Video game industry starts a political action committee, will give money to favored politicians

The video game industry is getting even more involved in politics. Good luck, bro.
The Entertainment Software Association has approved the creation of a political action committee, or PAC. The PAC, which will be functional by the end of March, will actively lobby candidates, including writing big, fat checks, for favorable legislation. The ESA expects to donate $50,000 to $100,000 to candidates this year alone.
Leave aside the “money poisons politics” rant for now—why wouldn’t the PAC be a good thing for gamers? We’re an interest group, a lobby, just as much as the telecos or lawyers or old people, so why not have an organization that’s got our backs? I wouldn’t mind see a politician take the unusual stance of not blaming video games for every little thing.
