Olympus has unveiled its new higher-end point and shoots, starting at $250. More megapixelage and better lenses, but slightly heavier if you’re watching those ounces. More pics and specs after the link.
Stylus 1020 (pictured above)
4.7 oz, 10.1 megapixels (2.3-in CCD), 2.7-in LCD, 7x optical zoom, 37-260mm equivalent focal length, $350
Stylus 1010
The specs for this are listed as being almost exactly the same as the 1020. I don’t actually see any difference except for the addition in the 1010 of user-programmable exposure modes. Costs $300. We’ll look into this.
Stylus 840
4.5 oz, 8 megapixels, 2.7-in LCD, 5x optical zoom, 36-180mm equivalent focal length, $250
I’d have to see images to be sure, but I don’t think the drop in megapixels and the weaker lens can justify the price difference here.

According to DCresource, the difference between the 1020 and the 1010, is that the 1020 uses version II of the LCD technology, which is said to offer improvements in LCD functionality.
