Sony to release Ceramic White PS3 in the US
by Nicholas Deleon on January 22, 2008

Given that 2008 is predicted to be the PS3’s year, it’s no surprise that Sony will want to keep momentum on its side. Sony will release the Ceramic White PS3 in North America, several years after white-colored electronics have gone from fashionable to dated. (See: the just-released pink iPod nano.)

In Japan, the Ceramic White model comes with a 40GB hard drive and there’s no reason to think this won’t be the case for the North American model. “Consumers” like electronics in different colors, so maybe that’s why the 40GB gets the new paint job instead of the higher end 60GB model.

In any event, there’s no release date just yet. That’s what we get for snooping around the FCC’s Web site.

  • Well, maybe they think the only reason people aren’t buying the PS3 in the US is because Sony believes people don’t want it clashing with their White Wiis and White XBox 360s.

By the way, if that statement turns out to be true, I will officially give up all hope I had remaining for the human race.

  • its alread in circity city sores than man was telling the truth..

  • I stopped by the sony store to look for 80GB PS3’s (which are in short supply btw). I asked if there are any plans for a white PS3. And the sales replied, “June” thats when I’m getting mine. I dont know about you, but I’m waiting.
