So… ASUS has decided that they’ll have a line of Eee that will go poof once Microsoft pulls the plug on XP? They’re going to make some money when they sell you the “Linux Restoration” part after that.

And sorry to say this Peter, but it’s kind of sordid to think that XP will perform as good as Linux in such a limited PC IMHO.

I think the best bet would be not to pay the extra $70 and start learning to use Linux (what’s so important in XP that cannot be done in Linux in this machine anyways? Minesweeper?).

Because, you do know that if you get CrossOver Office for $40 and run Microsoft Office 2003 and Adobe Photoshop CS (or was it CS2?) plus a ton of other stuff.

And if you do not want to shell out that amount, you can just go with Wine and stick to the Wine Review tutorials to get tons of stuff up and running… Just a thought that might save you $70 bucks of beer money.

But I must ask, and I ask in a sincere, not meaning-to-sound-offensive way, you really love Windows XP and your all the craze for DSLR’s and PMA? I mean, you must be using some wonder program, because for Photography I’m all Mac.

“But getting XP and 4gb SDHC card for about 70$ isn’t a bad deal.” That deal will only last for another five months. I don’t know but how many times can you switch XP to different computers? And it is possible Microsoft might extend XP’s lifetime again but it won’t go on forever.

Eh – XP isn’t a bad OS per se, but if I bought an Eee PC (which I want, but can’t justify as my MacBook works fine for me as a portable) I would probably just stick with Linux.

So get the EeePC and put XP on it, it wasn’t that hard. But getting XP and 4gb SDHC card for about 70$ isn’t a bad deal.
