Just a quick note: those of us waiting for an easy way to Jailbreak our 1.1.3-firmware-toting iPhones or iPod Touches have to wait no longer, as the Dev Team has released new Jailbreaking software.

I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, but I’m planning on giving it a try later today. Currently, you can only Jailbreak your iPhone or Touch with a Windows computer and USB, though word is a Mac version is on its way.

  • I followed the instructions but it claims my 1.1.1 isn’t jailbroken. Odd. My iPhone has been jailbroken since before jailbroken was cool…

Anyone else not getting their intended results?

I’m not certain I need to be on 1.1.3 anyway, truffully.

  • Why would someone bother to risk Jailbreaking 1.1.3 when the official SDK is just around the corner?

  • Software Developer Kit (SDK) may be right around the corner but how many of you believe that Apple is going to allow free applications on their beloved iPhone? Think they don’t care? What about AT&T? Think they’ll allow you to set up a server on an unlimited rate plan (even though it’s on EDGE speeds?)

No way. The SDK is coming and either the developers will pay through the nose or the customers will have to choose from a limited slate of applications only available via iTunes (read: $$$.)

I was there when they announced games for the iPod. All iPod games cost money and all must come through iTunes. You people don’t understand that Jailbreak stops the monopolists in their tracks and restores control back to the customer.

    Caveat Vendor!

    • Right, but if there is an official way to install software, then all it would require is a hack on the PC/Mac end to fake the authentication process. By hacking the computer and not the iPod Touch/iPhone, you greatly reduce the risk of bricking come subsequent firmware updates.

      Ya dig?

  • hey ipod is 1.1.1 but i jail broke it and now i cant deliet it and it wont let me up garde it how do i do it

  • Let me start by introducing myself. I am a n00b. I have an IPod Touch with 1.1.3 (With Software Upgrade). I paid the $20 for the software upgrade before discovering a technique known as Jailbreak. I am very tempted to Jailbreak my Ipod Touch but am also very hesitant. What are the risks? Should I wait? What are the advantages to waiting? I obviously do not want to destroy my new Ipod Touch therefore would you mind assisting me in successfully Jailbreaking it? Thank you for you time.

    • Hey Anonymous N00b,

I tried both JB1.1.3 and 1.1.3(Software Upgrade)… They didn’t go hand in hand, cause iTunes failed to sync the apps to my jailbroken iPod. Works like magic with no JB though.

Aside from the Apple Apps, I really wanted a couple more apps, but, given it is legal (warranty) and powered by apple (all the cool syncing and backups) I though my choice would be the apple apps for now…

If you get any where with having both please gimme a shout.

  • how can i get this jailbreaking software for 1.1.3? i could do with it quite soon because im having trouble jailbreaking my touch at the moment

  • well where can you get the software to do it? I can’t jailbreak mine right now..

  • well i restored my ipod and it went to 1.1.3 but i want it at 1.1.1 how do i do that ?

  • im a newb nd i just got the iphohne with 1.1.2 firmware version on it, and accidentally updated it to 1.1.2 is there anyway i can downgrade it so i can unlock it???

  • I just went thru this whole process of downgrading 1.1.3 to 1.1.1, but now appsnap won’t work. All it does is shut down safari, has any1 else had this problem? Thanks for any help.

  • On ya, for people who need help with downgrading 1.1.3 to 1.1.1, heres the breakdown:

First, u need a few downloads, get iphuc, and 1.1.1 firmware.

Next watch the video on youtube by ipodtouchmaster abut downgrading, its REALLY helpful. When he talks about a rapidshare link, oddly enough he doesn’t give it to u, so go to the video by uklee23. This will have the link in the description.

If you follow the youtube video correctly it should work, good luck!

    • watched the video but its no good cus he says u need a jailbroken ipod 1.1.2 2 start but thats the problem and i cant get installer until its jailbroken so wots the point?!

  • I’m tempted to jailbreak but I’ve heard rumors about it voiding the warranty on your iPod and it also could result in ur iPod becominng corupt

  • I jailbroke my ipod touch and it works the exact same. It does void your warranty but it is worth it.

  • Just wanted to let you guys know, that after you jailbreak your ipod you can go just install the apple applications (maps, mail, stocks…) from the installer. I jailbroke mine and i think it is definatly worth it.

  • i dont want to downgrade my ipod to 1.1.2 and it pisses me of when i see ppl with cool apps but i want to keep software 1.1.3 and get installer on it

  • there really is not much of any way to JB an ipod touch 1.1.3 but its worth downgrading to the 1.1.2 firmware to jailbreak it because when you do you can just have it upgraded again. now this may be time consuming and confusing to some but if you do it right it works perfectly and you would have it back at 1.1.3 or even 1.1.4 but there are some drawbacks if you do not do it right not only will the warranty be void but your ipod will be no good and it will be unrecoverable so be careful or try it with a spare if you have the money to get one

  • how do you update your ipod software to 2.2 so you can get games if im currently on software 1.1.3

  • I am jailbreaking a first generation IPhone that has 3.0.1 firmware and am using the new RedSn0w software that has just come out. But when i get to the first stage (select the corresponding IPSW for your CURRENT firmware). Either i am not selecting the right firmware file or it is just not working but the response is ” unable to recognize specified IPSW”. If ANYONE can help me that would be much appreciated.
    Peace
    Spencer
