Caffeine is NOT tasteless. It tastes foul.

Caffeine is good for energy and Taurine is more stimulating to the mind as opposed to a physical stimulation like with caffeine. It gives you better mental focus and makes your mind that little bit sharper.

These taken together are good for before a workout (i use them together)

You can buy both in pure powder form cheap from ebay.
200mg caffeine + 2g Taurine is a good mix in orange or apple juice.

Never tried these new snickers though.

This candy bar has less of an after taste than a diet soft drink . In my opinion it was very good. A little different than a regular Snickers but not enough to put me off. I’ll buy it again.

Caffeine is tasteless. So why do you say there is a caffeine taste? Could it be the taurine or something else? The B-vitamins???

That “smooth” buzz is most likely the Taurine. You can get a similar effect from some of the better energy drinks. I find Low Carb Monster Energy Drink to work best but your mileage may vary.

I’m eating one as I type - well, I’m taking typing breaks. I got two the day before this blog was written and had the first yesterday when I needed a little something at work - loved it so much I’m eating the second one now for that boost - AND it’s a great snack! The Candy review is right - you can taste the bitter caffeine and I’m not fond of the taste, but I DO like the buzz! And maybe it’s all in my head, but I feel like I can focus better, also. Often a caffeine boost will make it hard to focus, but not this one. In fact, I like the combination so much I’m looking for other products with caffeine, taurine (whatever that is), and B-vitamins (preferably with fewer calories - I don’t think the now incessant leg-shake is burning off enough of the 250 calories packed into this little guy).

Trae Dorn - if you click through to the link you’ll see that it has 60 mgs of caffeine added. (Yes, chocolate has caffeine and some other alkaloid compounds that act like caffeine, but in about the same quantity as decaf coffee.)

How much caffeine did they add?

(and my biochemist girlfriend points out to me that chocolate already contains caffeine… so technically ALL Snickers are caffeinated…)
