Hi,

Most people now look at three segments

High end - Smartphone (includes iphone thru PDA)

Mid - Feature phone, ie typical Sony Ericsson, Samsung

Low end - Low end, e.g. Nokia 1100 for emerging markets

Can you please explain to me what the difference is between a smartphone and a PDA phone? This IS confusing. And I think what you wrote confuses me still...

From what I understand, you have 4 different phone types you are talking about here:

Smartphones:
> Non-touchscreen (HTC was on top, now #3 with Touchscreen

PDA phones (HTC has 50% market share):
> Non-touchscreen
> Touchscreen

So, besides the differences between smart and PDA phones, what is HTC's share of the touchscreen smartphone market? And what is the breakdown of their 50% share of the PDA phone market between touchscreen and non-touchscreen phones?

Who distinguishes phone types this way? Marketers or consumers? It's perplexing...
