This is not what the latest firmware looks like.

Feelin’ frisky? Not that we condone piracy or hacking of any sort, but I’m sure homebrewers out there want to get going on the latest firmware update for the PSP. Well, you needn’t fret any longer. Team M33 has already done it for you. Click on over and check it out. If you’re feeling uneasy about the whole thing then check out the Wiki entry.

  • Nice post! I must admit I hack my PSP, b/c all that homebrew is just so tempting to use.
It really makes it an open source device.
    So this is pretty sweet!

  • Gracias!

  • So what should I do to mine, PSP fanboys? Haven’t had it very long.

  • load up the custom firmware
    buy a crazy peripheral (http://www.amazon.com/Movie-Dock-Speakers-Remote-Control/dp/B000FBMG4W/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1201885836&sr=1-8)
and mount it on your dashboard
go buckwild and play GTA with your car

  • Load the custom firmware!!!!!

    • Duh, but is there anything else I should know about?

      • Well in order to “hack” into the firmware and load the custom one, you need something called a Pandora’s battery.
In short it bypasses the locked-ness of the PSP slim’s motherboard so that you can install your custom firmware off of a Memory stick.
it’s a bit of an intimidating process because you need to “unlock” your battery and your Memory stick.
I would find a nerdy PSP friend of the like who could do it for you. Or you could undertake the process yourself, seeing as if you follow the proper directions you won’t screw anything up.
I think dcemu.co.uk has a good forum under the PSP section for information.

  • Very nice, dwalk51. Thanks.
