‘HiPhone’ looks mighty familiar, almost iPhone-like

hiphone

All hail the new king of fake iPhones. It’s $239.00 (plus $15 shipping) direct from China, has two (count ‘em, two) SIM slots, triband GSM, is unlocked and carries no contract, comes with two (count ‘em, two) batteries, and I have no idea how much storage is onboard. Could be nothing, could somehow be a terabyte of flash memory.

Check out this hot demo video, complete with Eminem and Dido!

Actually, it looks better than the iPhone if it fixes some of the iPhone’s shortcomings. They should also add an SD slot.

tobias

if you see the vid there is an sd slot…

I think it does have SD card, because you can buy 2 gb memory for $15 extra

It don’t fix any of the iPhone’s shortcomings apart from recording video. In fact it has more shortcoming that the iPhone, e.g. lack of a proper web browser.

Richie Vigs (Who am I?)

Actually it has a microSD slot under the battery.

It’s cool, but where do you buy it and will it work with American carriers (specifically T-Mobile)?

Don

This is actually the D800i HiPhone by DigitalRise .. It is quadband GSM meaning it will work with T-mobile, At&T or Cingular in the USA… the D800i HiPhone comes with PDA Case and other accessories as well.. More pics here: http://www.gadgetgreats.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=781

Leslie (Who am I?)

actually, i checked and this is only a tri-band phone… in the US it can work with ATT (not 850mhz areas though), t-mobile, cingular… also this is the only 99% clone - check out the icons… they resemble the iphones the most (i.e. SMS write message icon). the one pictured on this thread is also only dual band… only the D800i is tri-band and can work in the USA…

Bscheu1 (Who am I?)

I bought a CECT Hiphone and had Sim Card problms too, but after read the manual with a magifying glass to help me read it. I found out under the WAP there ia a setting for GRPS settings. I just confirm that I want it on all the time.
I also switched to PCS BAND MODE under Phones settings and now it works fine as a phone, The STK SIM info still says no service info, but I can live without it,

I hoope this helps you. God knows I could fiind help anywhere else.

Good Luck!

LBsure (Who am I?)

this looks pretty cool but is it (quad band) so American consumers can buy it?, for example: AT&T customers????????????????????

eg

The interface speed looks pathetic next to an iPhone… who f__king cares about SD slots with that kind of performance. Look at the gesture to zoom on the photo…not even close.

no image
LBsure (Who am I?)

dude, its about half the price of the iphone so you should not expect it to be as fast as the iphone!!! thats the purpose of it costing closer to $200 instead of $400. if you think the ihpone’s speed is really worth the price then go ahead and grab the iphone. on the other hand, i think its a pretty nice phone and i’ll be grabbin one shortly!!!

E (Who am I?)

WOw - doesn’t do Edge or WiFi - just GRPS… Slower than 56 k modems…
So not only is the interface slow, but the Internet is even slower - and notice the video did not even show the Internet. For $200, I would want a LOT more….

WHatever Legion - it has no WiFi and no Edge - just GRPS
and we have not seen the browser….
I don’t know about you, but the point behind the iPhone is Internet Connectivity, which this unit lacks…

tezros (Who am I?)

Well I’m from Australia and we have yet to have a release of the so called Iphone. I know 2 people who got it from America however and both of them don’t work anymore, Anyone want to take a guess. THE BATTERY!!! I can understand an MP3 players battery being fixed, but a phone? what logic is there in that? How are you to go without a phone for weeks while your phone is sitting at APPLE head quaters in a queue of non working Iphones? The Hiphone has 2 batteries, I’ve never had a phone where the battery has died so I guess I’m covered for life. Plus 2 sims, I have 2 phones and god they’re chunky when put together, one is a hiptop and the other is a O2 xda atom, so 2 in 1, I’m sold. I have never had a use for the net on either one of them. Do you really need to check your emails every 10 secs. Where is the fun in that? Getting home from work, eating dinner, wash the dishes then check your email after a dose of the news. If this email revolution is so damn important than you’ve already answered your own question and dont get the Hiphone go for something more sofisticated and take that risk of loosing your phone all because the battery is faulty. People who buy the Iphone are just gambling, Apple is not going to compensate you, they’re not going to give you a new phone with all your info and numbers on it while you wait patiently for your fone to get fixed. No Apple are being more and more concerned about what they think you should want, it’s proven. the best OS for a phone has got to be windows mobile 6. Apple could release all the touch screens in the world, they’ll never beat the kings in compatibility.
Tell me what you think, REPLY IF YOU DARE!

Eytan (Who am I?)

You are a fool. Yeah, I dare…
1st, this is about the HiPhone, not the iPhone….
the HiPhone that people here are reporting FAILS ALL THE TIME….
as for iPhones, I have had mine for 9 months, and never had a battery problem. I am sure yu know no one whose phone is non-functioning because of the battery. Maybe they have reduced battery life (I don’t, and I have used it extensively every day for 9 months) - but they may, at which time IF they bought it legitimately, the store would give you a loaner while it was getting a new battery. And guess what? Your friends did NOT buy it legitimately.
A phone that is both UGLY and NON FUNCTIONAL and STILL COSTS $200 AT MINIMUM is in discussion here, so go learn how to spell and get the f*&k off this board. IF YOU DARE
hahahah

tezros (Who am I?)

Well, well. Firstly, I think you should back off for a second here. If your not open minded about other peoples opinion then don’t blog. Shouldn’t you be blogging where that language is apropriate. Secondly, I’m not an english teacher and I dont plan to be one, my wording was understandable and I don’t believe I miss spelt much, if any. Let me quote you “I don’t know about you, but the point behind the iPhone is Internet Connectivity, which this unit lacks”, I was making a point about the differences between both phones. Next I would like to point out that I have had my hiphone for a couple of weeks now and I have never had a problem with mine, it might not have all the things the iphone has but I would think that I’d be wasting my money if I were to buy one as I would never use half of what the basics are with the Iphone. I would also like to point out that they did buy the phones legit but got it unlocked illegit so you might be half right. The Iphones wont work off the chargers. Might not have anything to do with Apple might just be the unlocking process. One last question before I leave this post, do you HAVE the Hiphone or are you just here to boast about your Iphone and put everyone down just coz they dont want to fork out double for what they can get half price? Besides I bought mine for $150 and in Australia we can’t get a Iphone for less than $600 for a 8GB, so do your math, I paid 1/4 of the price to get a phone thats just right for me…
P.S. The post I left before was not an attack, I could see your anger coming through in text. If you have more rude words and defensiveness please dont reply, it’s just worthless and childish.

Marla (Who am I?)

I am looking into getting this phone, and I have seen alot of reasons to get it and to not get it. I will not be using the internet too much on it, so as a phone (touchscreen), is it worth it? And if anyone has bought one, can you tell me what service you have and how you can find out if your area supports the mhz for this phone? I have ATT, and I want to make sure that it will take my sim in my area. Also, if anyone bought one off of ebay, do you recommend a certain seller? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

hey guys,it just 999RMB!!!RMB!!!!

Mr.King

I have this phone and bought it mainly for the novelty aspect cause I’m weird like that. I bought it from Dagonkicks so they didn’t steal my money like some suggest. I will list the pros and cons for everyone:
Pros:
- The audio is actually very clear when making calls. It was twice as good as my Treo which might not be saying much but I was pleased with that.
- The interface is like the iPhone and easy to maneuver and the English language is understandable…. Not too much ‘engrish’ going on
- The touchscreen works well. I am able to message and dial just fine.
- Most of the apps run fine without any problems.
- The removable batteries (2) and free skin are a nice addition.

Cons:
- I was unable to get any settings to change background or sounds. Havent played with it enough but no luck so far.
- I am unable to get internet access. Maybe its a setting but I can’t seen to set it up and settings seem limited.
- Video playback doesnt seem crisp but it could be the videos it came with.
- The phone is thicker than the iPhone (but lighter due to plastic)
- This is the BIG one: The charger cable broke on me the first day! Now I cant charge the thing… Very cheaply made if you ask me. It was hard to get into the phone port and it basically pushed the connector in on the USB/charging cable.
- Some of the apps seem to not function right. Like Notes… it somehow takes me to the change time section
- Settings seem limited
- No onboard memory.. comes with 512mb of memory and wont read my 4gig microSD card… limited to 2gig

As you can see, there are more cons than pros so overall the phone is more of a gimmick. I did like the clarity of the calls and I havent tried the mp3 yet due to my memory card issue. I hope they will send me a replacement charging cable so I can use the damn thing. Basically I just have fun showing people my fake iPhone. It gets a good laugh.

Watson (Who am I?)

it’s cool, 99% like iphone, zooming pictures with two fingers.
Buy it here for only $179 bucks http://www.milkhoneyland.com/iphone-clone-hiphone-dual-sim-card-cell-phone-p-1590.html

Anonymous

how can it be 99% like an iPhone if it has no wifi and not even edge? We have yet to see from this video or anywhere else 50% of the features of the iPhone, it will not play the same media, etc….
if you said 50% like the iPhone for 50% the price, it would be plausible, but 99%????
come on…..

no image
roxanne D (Who am I?)

ya, their’s is not 99%…. only the d800i comes close… check out the icons for example… the icons from the other chinese sites are all generic icons whereas the d800i’s closely resemble the iPhone’s… also the non-D800i are all only Dual-band -even though the say tri-band and even quad-band… there is simply no quadband hiphone out now and those who say there is are lying - meaning they will not work in the USA and will only work in Europe, UK. In short, the D800i is the closest clone yet and is the only phone that will work in the USA.

Hey I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to make my SIM card work in this phone. I have ATT&T and it is not reading my SIM card. They said that I am in the 1900 or 850 range so it should work?

Donnie

I had the same problem with our HiPhone. where we live was out of the service area. check the signal strength. and try another area. ours works great in town.
