I have yet to see Cloverfield. I’m a huge JJ fan, I’m watching LOST tonight, but I was out of the country when the stuff went down, so I’m not clicking the link below. But if you want the backstory, and are really into being a geek, be my guest.

Matt, unless you’re able to read Japanese, you’re safe to click through. It’s just a short blurb pointing to the Japanese Manga backstory. No spoilers after the click. In fact, my second sentence sums up what they say in the paragraph on io9.

And just for reference, that “concept” drawing of the Cloverfield monster is not even close to the real thing. However I definitely would have preferred this one over the one seen in the film.
