Writers strike over says ex-Disney CEO

The writers strike could be over. Ex-Disney CEO Michael Eisner has been quoted by CNBC and others as saying, “It’s over. They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It’s going on Saturday to the writers in general… A deal has been made, and they’ll be back to work very soon.”

Rumors of a deal had been circulating since last weekend, and picketing appeared to be dwindling in Los Angeles yesterday.

I sincerely hope the writers got what they wanted. I’ll be all over this.

Update: Newsday has the full wrap-up of the Eisner interview. And yes, make that ex CEO.

  • Robert Iger is the Walt Disney Company President/CEO.

Eisner has not been with Disney since September 30th, 2005.

  • Like ‘mmh’ said, Eisner is no longer Disney’s CEO. Your tag should read “Writers strike over says former Disney CEO”

    • Or it the content of your article should say Bob Iger instead of Eisner. In the past, other places have reported that Bob Iger has been negotiating with the WGA. I’ve never heard that Eisner has had contact with them.

      Long live Bob.

  • It was a statement from Michael Eisner. Did I not get the memo that he was relevant again?

  • Man, I respect the writers for being the people who provide my entertainment, but those lazy mother fuckers didn’t look like they were doing a whole lot to get paid more. Oh and another thing, if they are indeed getting paid more, the shows better start getting better! Enough with the shitty reality TV shows that everyone thinks they can make. NOT EVERYONE CAN MAKE A GOOD REALITY TV SHOW. Some people however (writers) CAN make decent ones that are worth watching.
