I’ve got my Apple TV all ready to go. I want to update for the “Take Two” upgrade that will grant me HD movie rental, fulfilling the promise of the Apple TV/iTunes duo. But no. I go to update and it’s telling me I’m up to date. Which, of course, I’m not.
Other owners: Success? Failure? Movie rentals? Beers?

Workin’ like a charm, not to rub it in or anything. See my initial impressions on a comment on Doug’s ATV2 post…..
I just updated mine and in the process of downloading a HD rental.
Ours is working like butter melting on a hot roll. It’s a beautiful update…so beautiful, I’m sending one to my grandmother so she can watch our podcasts and see our Flickr pictures.
Podcasts can be streamed without downloading or subscribing. It’s a great way to sample shows.
Also the HD movie we rented looked flawless. It was ready to watch at 1% and with 5.1 audio!
Just finished mine – it took awhile and I am not yet convinced that it won’t freeze again (has happened twice). That said, there is one other new feature added in this update “AirTunes” – a feature that the Airport Express had – you can push music out to the speakers attached to the AppleTV from any of your iTunes clients.
Now I have easy access to my entire library via push, in addition to a smaller portion for sync.
Rentals here I come. (uh, later)
I was able to download the update but then just got the question mark after reboot. I switched to diagnostic mode and reset to factory settings. After which the update installed in about 15 minutes.
I have exactly the same problem, are you is the US?
Mine is working great. It’s nice to pick a show from the comfort of my couch to buy and watch. It sure beats buying it on the office computer downstairs and waiting for the whole thing to download. The show started in about 10 seconds.
