Rush is not alone.

I just bought a new faster hard disk for my MBP. Initially I just copied everything over with Super Duper - but then Time Machine wanted to start a whole new backup of everything (no incremental backup) which was distressing.

So - I booted off DVD and did a full Time Machine restore. You know what - Time Machine STILL does not recognise the newly restored disk as its own, does a deep inspection of every file and wants to do a complete backup again.

But worse than this - Apple Mail needs to rebuild the index of every mail folder. I have 110,000 emails and Mail crashes every time at about email 250 or so. So Time Machine can NOT restore an Apple Mail system and I think that is what Rush is (rightly) raising a stink about.

Why must people who don't know what they are talking about assume a man who runs 4 Mac Pros must be a 'Retarded idiot'? I challenge matthew to get TM to continue backing up next time he upgrades his mac...

"Why can’t he go back in time to find an e-mail he accidentally deleted?"

Because he's a retarded idiot? It works perfectly fine for me. While I'm in Mail I click the Time Machine icon, and I can go back and see how my mail folders were at any point in history.
