I agree totally with the reader/comment above. Apple has been a huge supporter of Blue Ray since the beginning. Maybe it's because Blue Ray had a better picture and twice the storage space making it the obvious choice , or because it wasn't backed by Microsoft.

But to say that Apple doesn't support putting cutting/bleeding edge technologies in their computers for the sake of simplicity. All I have to say is FireWire & Bluetooth my friends. I believe Apple has been rock'n these two things long before the rest of the industry did.

Crunch Gear, you just lost some major points with me. But I forgive you...

I guess the author isn't familiar with the fact that Apple was the first to put DVD burners in PowerMac G4s long ago. A spendy update to be sure. Almost $1,000. Apple loves to tout cutting-edge technology in their pro machines. They also seem to forget that Apple is a member of BDA, that they produce software they want people running in their Macs to create original video content.

Too many people seem to forget that Apple is a big-time player in Hollywood. There is every reason to believe they put the second slot in for optical drives in their Mac Pro towers so that people will be able to add the Blu-ray drives once they become affordable. And now that such affordable drives exist (the latest Sony is $250), there is little doubt Apple will add that option soon.
