VAIO TZ series premium ultraportable notebook
by Doug Aamoth on February 26, 2008

The $3700 VAIO VGN-TZ298N/XC (sexy name, huh?) makes my pants hurt. I’d considered getting a notebook in the TZ line last fall but most of the reviews I read found owners complaining of sluggish performance thanks to a single core processor and only 1GB of RAM to run big fat Vista. This overhauled version features a dual-core ULV processor, seven hours of battery life (SonyStyle.com claims between 4 and 8.5), 64GB solid state drive plus a 250GB regular drive, EVDO Rev. A wireless from Sprint,  2GB of RAM, and a DVD burner — all in a 2.65-pound, less-than-one-inch thick body.

Yum. Too bad it costs almost as much as my first car. Still, it’s nice to dream.
