I happen to agree with Bittermormon, this is a for profit blog, and a top media outlet. Would you hold the same opinion if New York Times published a story utilizing the snatched photo above? I doubt it. Have some journalistic integrity.

Do you think if I stole the blog text above, and reposted it without proper credit CrunchGear wouldn’t cry foul?

I’m sure the person who created it and uploaded it trying to make a buck cares. Too bad even though this blog is so loaded with ads, they can’t afford to pay someone for their work.

I agree that legal digital downloading is getting bigger and better…but I’m not going to be downloading a 20GB+ High Def movie. I’d much rather pay for the disc and watch it instantly instead of waiting 3+ days for it to download.

That’s would probably be a fair assumption, but their actions above seem to point otherwise. To assume it would be conjecture, and thus it wouldn’t be fair to condemn their actions right now without knowing the full story. When they deferred the decision to them, but stating the ball was in their court, that’s exactly what it seems to indicate.

Of course I do. But I’m sure they have a clause that says if everyone else ditches and/or Toshiba ditches then they have the option to switch as well. Am I right?

They may be contractually obligated to the format as a result of a prior payment, and it may not have a clause that releases Dreamworks upon the death of the format. Thus, it would be up to Toshiba to release them from their contractual obligations…
