Best Buy will take your old consoles and give you a gift card to use at one of its bajillion locations. The process is fairly straightforward and shipping costs are taken care of by Best Buy, not you.
You provide some basic info about the current shape of your console, print the shipping label, and send it off. About a week after the item arrives at the shipping center, you’ll get a Best Buy gift card.
My mint-condition Nintendo DS (mint condition because I think I’ve used it five times) is worth $46.01 according to the Dealtree.com-powered trade-in center. It’s the old chunky DS, too. Not bad, eh?

BuyerSeller Beware: That’s what they say now, it’s a trap though. Once it’s in their possession, they’re going to shortchange you because they can. If you don’t take their offer and want it back, you have to pay shipping (and you may never get it back). There’s bad ideas and there’s worse ideas, this is a worse one. Besides, I’d give you a cool extra nickel over that price, how can you lose! Now that’s not bad, eh?…This is a great deal! – Sure you can probably sell the item yourself on an ebay auction for a little more (maybe). But then you have to worry about ebay fees, collecting money, shipping the item, and maybe getting even less if the bids don’t go high enough.
Hnestly… what could be easier? Get a quote, Print a label, ship the item, collect a gift card. Thanks Best Buy!
