Is this the zzzPhone?

I just got out of a meeting with EcoCarrier.com, of whom I’ll post in the next few days. One thing that struck me immediately, however, is that these guys had a working 3-SIM cellphone with touchscreen and keypad called the Eco123 which looks surprisingly like a rebadged zzzPhone. While I wish neither of these companies any ill-will, it’s nice to see the hardware and I can report that the OS isn’t Windows Mobile or Symbian and is, in fact, a proprietary amalgam Java and whatever touchscreen magic the client wants to implement. Think of this as the first “white box” phone and leave it at that, friends, and if zzzPhone promises a cool phone for not much money, believe them. The folks at EcoCarrier told me these things cost $108 each in bulk.

Ok, looks like there just isn’t enough information about these things about, so here goes.
These Chinese phones have flooded the market where I live (India) at ridiculously low prices. A guy at the office has one that has a giant screen and terrestrial TV reception(!) and he got it for about $137 retail. The brands are irrelevant, and nobody seems to care.
What is common to all these phones is that they run the exact-same OS (if you want to call it that). They are touchscreen and have the same silk-screened buttons at the bottom. They come in various shapes, sizes, colours, configurations, but are essentially identical. Shitty WAP/xHTML browser and no Java as far as I can tell. They will do MP3, video (not sure what format) and sometimes run NES ROMs.
Eco123, zzzPhone—all the same stuff, sold in bulk. Strangely, despite our super-cost-sensitive market, not too many people are buying. They consider them disposable/cheap. Some only use them with headsets for fear of spontaneous combustion.

I am registered affiliate of zzzPhone and can answer your questions. I don’t know about Ecogsm, but zzzPhone has a completely different mission. They have set out to revolutionize the cell phone field by releasing this phone and allowing distribution to the whole world. The phones work all over and are unlocked. I have heard from an email they sent out, that they also have Android in the works to be released in June 08. The first phones are being released soon, and I will have mine Monday.
