SwissMiniGun is two inches long, yet fires 300 mph bullets

So this here gun, the SwissMiniGun, is only two inches long, yet it’s characterized the same as a machine gun. Why? Mainly because, despite its small size, it can fire real bullets at a speed of nearly 300 mph (real speed: 270 mph).

The gun costs something like $6,000. Fancier guns, ones with diamonds and other gaudy gemstones, can be expected to fetch over $60K.

Right now, there’s a six-month waiting list to get the gun, plus the hoops you’ll have to jump through to import it into your country.

My favorite part is that manufacturer claims that U.S. authorities freak out when they think criminals will go through the trouble of obtaining a SwissMiniGun and all the required paperwork when they can just buy some Soviet machine gun in a minute. Common sense, people.

  • Sorry — I don’t know anything about guns really so this may be a stupid question. But considering the size of the bullets, could these actually be lethal? If so, at what range?

  • Yet another fine addition to the Swiss Army line…

  • If it’s going 300mph you’re probably in for it if it hits the right part.

  • Doesn’t look lethal. I bought a CO2 pellet pistol (.177caliber) from Wal-Mart that fires at 430feet-per-sec which is 293mph.

    • …and shoots pellets, right? They might hurt, but probably are less effective than a bullet designed to pierce flesh. Of course, I’m hardly a gun expert.

  • Q) Are hand models with broken fingers just that little bit cheaper?

And speaking of fingers, how the hell do you fire that thing, let alone aim it?

You’re hardly going to look intimidating… “Freeze, punk! I’ve sorta got a gun, here…no seriously, I can show you the manual” etc etc

UMMMMMM, i think this one’s a bit more concealable than a soviet machine gun…not to mention authorities probably wouldnt take it seriously if they saw it in person – it looks like a keychain!!! Easily can be put in the bin when you go through a metal detector at the airport. Not that it would be as lethal as an AK47…but still…Common sense? think again.
