I was just looking for Wayne Bell, creator of the WWIV BBS system, and I found this list of 508 area code BBSes complete with notes from the original sysops. I was on the 614 area code myself, so I never visited these sites, but weren’t those the days, kids? Fidonet FTW.

MUDs FTW
Wow. Um. Nerdy.
But not much of the old old school. Mid 80’s, acoustic coupler modems, capable of 300baud on a good day, except I lived in a fucking trailer and we had party line phones so I’d get knocked off if I ever dared to try to dial in in the afternoons; and my parents wondered why I was up all night…. Not to mention, I never saw this 300baud. *griN*
Indeed, those were the days.. I used to have have an Apple IIe with a 110/300 baud modem. When I switched to PC’s, I switched to WWIV BBS Software – it had just been converted from Basic to Turbo Pascal. BBSes are still around..they’ve made the conversion to the internet a long time ago.
