Lenovo is perpetually discounting their ThinkPads, so these "40% discounts" really aren't that much different than what you'll find on a new notebook that you can customize. Even the brand new X300 is discounted by over $600 on the main Lenovo notebook page. 10%-20% discounts on ThinkPads are the norm, 25% to 40% if you have a coupon. A lot of these notebooks actually have nice specs, but of course you can’t customize them.
