I've been a two-subscription Rhapsody user for quite a while now. With five music hungry users in my house, I would say that Rhapsody saves me more money than I could imagine spending on new CDs every Tuesday from Best Buy. Plus, I'm teaching my kids the value of making sure artists get paid for their art.
The frustrating thing about Rhapsody is that not all of my favorite artists have made it to their library yet. And, many one-hit wonders often don't allow their one-hit to be used on Rhapsody-To-Go (you have to pay to download). But, in the long run, it's worth every penny.

"For whatever reason, the service is seen as something tied to Windows."

If you tried using Rhapsody with a Mac, then you would know why it's associated with Windows (or at least why its NOT associated with Mac). While windows users get a richly featured, dedicated app to browse and play music, Mac users are stuck with the website interface, which is clunky and unreliable.

If Rhapsody wants to shake the Windows-only association, then they need to show Mac users some love and come up with a cool Mac app (i.e. NOT just a port of the win app).

Rhapsody still doesn't get it. I'm not paying them money for music that goes away when I stop paying. I like to listen to a select group of musicians, composers, artists. And I like the search for new acts.

Just downloaded 36 songs last night from NIN for $5. That's the future of music. Not subscriptions. Not even iTunes, which I use and bought two albums from this week. I'd rather ALL the money goes to the artist. I already pay for the bandwidth to get it. So what if the business model of middle-man providers changes. The ultimate way to get music is how Nine Inch Nails is doing it with their latest album. I think I remember reading they made $150,000 in the first three days it was available for download (including selling out all of their $300 special editions).

Its amazing...especially for the musically ADD. My large-ish music collection is more trouble than anything else. Prior to Rhapsody I could spend my commute skipping through songs I didn't want to hear.

I have also been exposed to infinitely more new music than i otherwise would (channels are great). Picked up a Rhapsody mp3 player from Woot - they seem to offer some version of my player once a week - for about 30.00 and haven't touched my ipod since.

I love Rhapsody, I use it everyday at work via it's web interface, in my car with the Rhapsody To Go service and my MP3 player and at home with the dedicated software. I probably listen to 10+ new albums each week, which comes out to over $400 a month if I were actually buying outright all that music. Instead, I pay just $15 with Rhapsody. The artists get paid, RealNetworks gets paid and I get all the music I can listen to.
