Capcom is set to release Street Fighter IV soon, but does anyone remember another arcade fighter from the same era? “Get over here!” Ring any bells? Well, Midway has revealed that a new Mortal Kombat title is coming this year! I remember playing on the PC and it was darn fun. I pwnd everyone with Sub-Zero and had many a flawless victory.

Details are extremely limited on this one, but it will most likely find its way onto the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. Ed Boon, the genius behind MK hinted that the new installment would be unlike anything we’ve seen before. I can’t wait!

I’m still undecided as to which game had the better movie, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. Thoughts?

  • Neither.

I wasn’t a big fan of the newer MK games they brought out the past few years. Hopefully they go old school kind of how Sf is taking it?..

  • Are you fucking kidding me?! Street Fighter movie vs Mortal Kombat movie(s). No Contest. The Street Fighter movie has got to be one of the worst movies ever made. (Jean Claude van Dam sucks) The Mortal Kombat movies may have been a little stupid, but it was a cool stupid. Plus they had great sound tracks.

Also playing Mortal Kombat on the SNES back in high school… Suh-Wheat!

  • Definitely with David on this. I liked Mortal Kombat when I saw it for the first time as a kid. But even as a child, I walked away from Street Fighter wishing I could get the twenty minutes back that I spent watching it.

Mark makes a good point too — there is definitely something to be said for old fashioned two dimensional gaming. Mortal Kombat, and games like Sonic too.

  • MK was a much better movie. Don’t get me wrong. SF was way too cornball.

  • I agree. SF the movie sucked balls… especially after all of the cool SF anime movies. Anytime you have a movie with Jean Claude, it’s gonna suck worse then getting caught paying money to a high-end prostitution ring in the state of new york.

  • If we are talkin’ about the movies, I’ll give Mortal Kombat 10 start and Street Fighters 2. And if we are talkin’ about videogames I give 10 stars for Mortal Kombat and 1 star for Street Fighters….

And let’s make it clear: Mortal Kombat is the best ever,as a videogame….
The ones of you who gave bad comments about MK must be 5 y.o. kids who have no idea how to do the spear with Scorpion…
MK is going in only one direction, and that’s UP!

And the ones that remember MK4 from ‘97 with ” poor graphics ” , we have some news for you – for that year MK4 was one of the best game ever made! plus the things has changes A LOT since then. We are going to see Mortal Kombat 8 soon….so I don’t think a bad game would resist from 1992 till 2008…

If you look at the new Street Fighters it’s the same like the 1st… I prefer to call it cartoons, not a videogame…

So for the end… Good luck for Ed Boon and all that great team there at Midway – Keep the good work that you started back in ‘92.

And for Street Fighters fans: Get Mortal Kombat or get a life!!!

  • Cat, you’re an idiot.

The skill involved in the MK game is not nearly that what is required to play anything newer than SF2.

MK is a novice fighter with badass finishing moves.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE MK, but you can’t say it’s a ‘better’ game than SF. Anything past MK2 was pretty much crap.

And with this new rendition, they completely sold out. There isn’t even any blood. BLOOD. Something we fought so hard for back in the day to even allow in our video games.

    MK started this revolution!

Now they are abandoning the tradition entirely just to try and sell what appears to be a repackaged MK4.

    No thanks, I’ll pass.

    • Excuse me? dude, you know crap about video gaming, ..OK Ed Boon made some mistakes but… let’s not LIE about SF2 beeing better than MK…stop dreaming dude!
