    It is not really quite true, iPod and Google only searches or plays/views already created data, where as, typical enterprise applications handle data capture/entry.

    When Google or Apple builds typical OLTP systems their screens won’t be much different from the third one that the cartoon depicts! Just try register for Google mail, reality will bite you immediately, you will see a registration form which is similar to the third picture.

    The complexity of typical data cpaturing screens is a necessary evil, screens haven’t changed much from mainframe-era and Apple or Google don’t have any silver bullets for it!
