Good lord. If you want to see the future of warfare and fear, this is it. This is the BigDog quadraped robot designed by Boston Dynamics for DARPA and can climb over rubble, walk through snow, and even save itself when slipping on ice. It can apparently carry over 300 pounds. When they put a gun on this bastard and set it lose behind enemy lines, watch out.

This must have been a great intellectual exercise but so far a great waste of taxpayers money. Any soldier could knock it out with a couple rounds, and unless there is some sort of super secret battery, it will be about as useful as a dead laptop in a matter of minutes — it takes a lot of juice to do all that jumping around.
i guess it can carry a couple hundred pounds, so there is your armor, a simple targeting system (shoot at anything that moves), a gun and some ammo
yeah, I’m sure when the soldiers got done wetting themselves, they might able to do it some harm to it
But just remember, it can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.
Is that real? I have my doubts, look at how the legs move? That seems way to advance for our technology. I’m go into more detail of why I don’t think it’s real but I’m tired and baby want a rock star.
Yeah, it’s real. I saw it on future weapons or something like that on Discovery a while back.
OUR TECH seems to be getting ahead of our common sense !!! First thing thought weapon !!! Why not good things ???? Oh YEA !!! If we have had things like big dog we just might have the won the VIET WAR !!! And I am a VET that participated in that one of the past !!! Why is the future always for conflict ??? I think I read somewhere that this is a search-and-rescue prototype.
Hence the large payload ability and the tether option.
Still, if made for tactical operations, you can bet they’ll have a swarm.

this shit is scary. all it needs to do is carry a bomb. hide under the leaves till it’s master is gone away then walk up to the enemy. citizens like you and me. I’m sure it can be outfitted with an array of different sensors sending info back to the central headquaters. what a great re-con tool.
