I downloaded Vista SP1 through TechNet about a month ago. For about a week after the installation, the computer would simply turn off seemingly at random on a daily basis. This wasn't happening before SP1 was installed. Now it only happens a few times a week, but the crashes are still happening without any reason why from Vista. I'm disappointed that SP1 hasn't improved my computer's reliability or performance whatsoever. I've disabled UAC Prompts while keeping UAC turned on in the background. But several programs still have to Run As Administrator in XP SP2 compatibility mode to work at all.

Of course, your mileage may vary. Good luck on Vista SP1, everybody. Here's hoping SP2 isn't far away . . .

"I have a 2.2GHz dual-core notebook with 2GB of RAM and a dedicated GeForce 8400M GS graphics card with 256MB of memory and Vista just runs “okay” on it. I had to turn the Aero interface off"

I dont know what Im doing right. I have a 2.0ghz core 2 duo, 2 gig ram mobile 256mb geforce 7900 gs and I have been running vista for almost a year with aero turned on, not changing any of the PC habits I had when I ran XP on the same laptop. I always have 2 browsers with multiple tabs on each, and other programs running. its always ran fine for me. I guess there is a bigger difference in those 2 graphics cards that I thought there was.

R.I.P. SearchIndexer.exe ... I'm uninstalling your ass right now. I WILL NEVER USE VISTA AGAIN! The worst operating system I've ever experienced.
