My original worked well with a Lumix superzoom for about 3 months but only tried a few pix at a time. Good range, decent load times. Lately I've tried my first large batches (of, say 30-40 on the card) and it only loads about 6 at a time then requires powering camera off-on to get another 6 or so and repeat until all are offloaded.

Thinking that maybe there was a default setting limit that I had never advanced, I opened the Manager and discovered the recall. Related?

OK, I got a replacement card, and the range is indeed much better. I haven't done any distance tests, but this time around I didn't have to go to any great lengths to get it to connect and upload photos.

Whether or not it turns out to be useful in the long run, I don't know, but at least my major objection's covered. Thanks to eye-fi for the quick turnaround on this! I certainly can't complain about their customer service, and that's worth a lot these days.

I'd already started the support process, and this morning I got an RMA, so I'll report back if my replacement works better. I really want to like the eye-fi, this was just so frustrating it made me a hater. If it turns out I just got a bum unit though, I'll be more than happy.

Tim,

That kind of range is certainly not what we expect or what we typically see from users. You should be seeing 35-45 feet indoors. Please contact Eye-Fi Technical Support at (877) 873-9334 and let them know that Larry (Support Engineering Lead) asked you to call. I would like to have the engineering team have a look at your Eye-FI Card to learn what is wrong with it. That kind of range is unusual, typically you will be getting 35-45 feet indoors.

One of us from Eye-Fi will also be contacting John since his experience falls short of what we expect and is not acceptable. We want to see him up and running with his card as well.

I'm not sure what your problems are, but has worked perfectly every time with my Canon SD700IS

Pictures upload to Flickr and iPhoto through my WPA encrypted wi-fi, just like I set it up to do. And as to distance, it's doing it from at least 50 feet away.

I feel your hate. I finally got mine installed last night after putting the reader in a USB hub with a long cord and holding it up in the air facing my wifi router 10 feet away. After putting the card in my camera, the only way I could get it to connect to the network was to place it literally 1 foot away from the router. 5 feet away and it wouldn't work.
