Sabotage: Safari bundled with WiniTunes

If you’ve downloaded iTunes for Windows, you might get a window encouraging you to download a software update — really the entire package — for the latest version of Safari. This seems a bit disingenuous and smacks of bundling and the only thing I can imagine is that iTunes needs some sort of Safari DLLs to visit the iTunes store. That, however, is fairly bogus because why not just offer a patch. As anyone seen this behavior on your PCs?

…but didn’t download it. Between Firefox and IE 7, I’ve got my share of browsers thank you.

you do not need safari. apple is just trying to get people to install their web browser (and since you already have quicktime and itunes, they’re trying to convert you just a little more). i didn’t have it, but the auto-update wanted to install it. i was curious, so i let it install. i didn’t like it, so i uninstalled it (firefox forever!) and there were no issues. no, itunes can hold its own online. safari is an add-on they are trying to slip in under the guise of an itunes update, not a necessity for anything.
