We can’t get into Netflix from NYC. Anyone else seeing an outage?
From Netflix.com:
Unanticipated outtage. Our engineers are working fast on it.

If you go to the IP address http://208.75.76.17 they have a message up about their website being temporarily unavailable.
Can’t get to it from Chicago either. First tried around 8:30 or so this morning.
This is now appearing on their site:
The Netflix web site is temporarily unavailable.
Our site is temporarily down, but not to worry, our distribution centers are still sending and receiving DVDs. We’re also working hard to get the site up as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. You can contact Netflix Customer Service at 1-888-638-3549.

Maybe I should call and ask them to read my queue list aloud….
did like their never missing an opportunity to sign up a new subscriber!
It is down in WV also.
Reported here:

down outside of Philly most of this morning
down in cali. no promises about distribution centers up and running!
Down in Hawaii also..no promises of anything here.
Down in Idaho. Boooohooo.
Typical Netflix. They throttle you if you actually watch movies, and reward the lazy for sitting on the new stuff for weeks. All they want is to drive up the profit-per-movie. This is the third outage in nine months. Notice they tell you nothing, too. They might as well be the electric or gas company - they hate their customers too.
Down in Boston. :(
Out in IN.
down in dallas, argh!
down in atlanta
Down Down Down…It looks like it is down everywhere going on 5 hours at least. Is something going on? Their stock is taking off today and there where rumors earlier in the week about some sort of Microsoft deal.
Oh my god, people. It’s just movies! Relax. Read a book. Go outside into the sunshine.
What is this “sunshine” that you speak of? Is it a movie? Ah, yes! It is!
True enough, but tell me, how did you care enough about this subject and get on this thread if you were so busy reading books or going for walks?
Same problem in SLC, UT.
Down here in San Jose, Ca , I live a couple miles from the headquartes and that doesn’t help me at all.
There’s no promises about reciving and sending dvd’s, it sucks!!!
Buster……. yes I know it’s just movies but we are paying $$$ for this service.
It’s been the same in St. Louis since early this morning.
Routine maintenance seems to have brought the site down. I sure wouldn’t want to be the engineer who inadvertently cost my employer millions with a maintenance misstep. Oh man.
Sorry, I was incorrect. It wasn’t routine maintenance. Here is the link to the story…

It’s down here in the NorthEast too.
In recent, I’ve noticed that Netflix has gone down hill. I’ve been a customer for almost a year now and don’t get any ‘long wait’ new releases unless I strategically return a disc the day before a movie comes out (i.e. Saturday). On the other hand, friends of mine that are new customers have been recieving new releases regardless of when they return a disc and the wait time.
Rant done.
I will take the blame. I had the search working overtime looking for all the softcore porn.
Down in sunnyvale, ca
Christen, same here.
Sometimes the movies show up 3,4 days after return. I return two movies on tue but still not seeing it in my queue on sat.
I’ll repeat the cnet link given above per the outage: http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9901944-7.html
The stock has reached an all-time high, I wonder if it has something to do with the outage: http://www.reuters.com/article/hotStocksNews/idUSN2433733320080324
Wow this Internet thing seems to be the same all over. I ran to several computers and Netflix is down on each one of them. We need more people reporting in from more states, maybe we can even brek it down by county. I didn’t realize this is how the Interweb works.
Hey A! Did you try different computer brands? — I have a Dell computer but maybe the Interwebbing is running on IBMs. Also I’ve heard sometimes things will straighten out if you untwist the webstring that runs from typing machine to the webtunnel in the wall.
it’s been down in NYC all day. is it down everywhere? me thinks so.
down in ohio ;\
STILL down in Chicago. its now 4:40pm CDT and its been out since at least 9:00am.
Not to worry, Its just an outage, the distribution centers are up and running its just their central HQ which operates the main site is down. thats why its down all over, its all the same site. from the same building.
It’s been down longer than they are stating I think. I tried to get on somewhere between 6 and 8am EDT this morning and was getting site errors even then.
Hmmm, maybe ’cause I have a Latitude D610 I saw it sooner? :o)
