The Justice Department has approved the $5 billion merger between Sirius and XM. No news on when the merger will officially happen, but you might want to start your petitions to keep your favorite channels intact right about now.

  • I’m glad this helps the technology as a whole, but after listening to a three month trial of XM in my girlfriend’s new car, I’ll be pretty disappointed if I start hearing commercials on my beloved Sirius.

They can make as much advertising money as they want on channels like Howard Stern and Opie & Anthony (please come to Sirius), as pauses in the broadcast are only natural. But honestly, the first time I get an offer to “enlarge” any aspect of my life on a music channel, the account will be canceled.

Save Lithium and Classic Rewind! Lucy is a poor imitation.

  • couldn’t agree more. am a current sirius subscriber, and have listened to xm many times in other vehicles. sirius is far and away the better choice for music. please absorb xm musical selections into sirius’ not the other way around.

  • well, at least i won’t havta get xm installed on my bimmer.. i’ll just use the pre-installed sirius unit.

  • Wait a minute, I was reading the release on BetaNews and it talks about non-interoperability between the vehicle receivers… wtf? did i miss something somewhere?

  • As long as they keep the Jason Ellis show on Sirius 28 Faction, I’m good. Oh, and please please please get rid of Madison from Sirius 21 Alt Nation. Please.
