Welcome to the Unreasonable Stance, where our own Devin Coldewey takes the minority opinion on a tech matter and defends it with convenient data, spun numbers, fanboyism, and insults until he proves, without a doubt, that those that disagree with him are filthy mouth-breathers.
Why are we having a whole week dedicated to this runty OS? You’d think this ridiculous open-source movement was supposed to be the future of computing. Well, it’s time someone took a stand and let the world know what everyone is afraid of saying: Linux sucks. It sucks bad.
I can’t think of a single reason to prefer this motley conglomeration of oddly-named, half-functional applications over an established, warrantee-backed, proven and solid operating system like Windows XP, or Vista.
Let’s be fair, though, and check out the reasons people like these various Linuxes. Surely one of the big draws has to be how free they and their software are. Great! Of course, you can pick up XP for a song these days, or why not Windows 98SE or ME? They work just fine and I see ‘em in bargain bins all the time. Money saved by switching to Linux: $2.99! And the software? True, Photoshop costs hundreds of dollars. But you’re almost certainly going to be getting that cost covered by work, because you don’t really need Photoshop for day-to-day stuff. That’s what Paint is for. And even if you do need to use it at home, you’re probably rich enough to afford it.
Oh, but the wealth of programs available for Linux-based systems! So they say, but how many of them are MIDI composers with command-line interfaces? That wipes out about 40% of the apps available right there, and what about text editors — they make up a solid third of the library right there. The list of everyday, usable applications is no longer than Windows’, and even then there’s the issue of installing them. Nobody wants to spend all their time compiling things or work out exactly which libraries and repositories they need to have access to. Are you crazy? Here’s how it works: go to download.com, type in “cd burner program,” and get whatever’s got the editor’s choice award because those guys know their stuff. Or, failing that, I’ve heard there’s a bay somewhere that has lots of software just floating around.
The whole open source thing bugs me, too. These people are hocking their shady programs, probably built up lego-style from stolen Windows code, and hoping someone will download it and show it to Google or Facebook developers so they can get a job. And if not, there’s always that “donate” button. How can people be so greedy?
Linux sucks for games. What have you got available to Linux systems? Oh, Tux Racer. And don’t forget about America’s Army! Of course, there’s that program Wine, but first there’s the whole hassle of getting it configured right, and then you have to ask yourself, “Did I spend $300 on a new Radeon so I could emulate the latest games?” The answer, my friend, is no. And that’s okay.
So configurable! All those options, right out there in the open. All you have to do is “sudo rub-tummy-pat-head ramalamadingdong -j -5 -343 +$^^ (gno)” and you’re set. The console is straightforward and powerful. Don’t you just love it when this is the interface for your OS:

I hear a lot of servers are switching over to Linux, whatever that means. Whatever helps you sleep at night, guys. I personally would sleep better knowing an enormous corporation is standing behind each one of my boxes like a guardian angel, ready to help me out with well-trained staff in call centers throughout India. As for requests per second and all that technical stuff, I’m going to make an educated guess that that’s mainly to do with the hardware and what’s running on it just changes the error message when it fails.
I wouldn’t recommend Linux to my worst enemy. And as you can imagine I don’t like that guy very much. It’s a jumbled mess of heterogeneous, larval-stage software and overspecialized toys for coders, and there’s less fun to be had on it than OS X. Why do people use it? For the same reason people grow mustaches: chicks dig it.

Thank you Devin for your article.
This is how unreasonable your stance is:
http://www.hdgreetings.com/ForYou.aspx?id=17wuhzqr 5p2l49947
You are so misinformed my son … I feel bad for you …
Go see the world and talk to people. You may learn something …
Sorry, link with space removed:
http://www.hdgreetings.com/ForYou.aspx?id=17wuhzqr5p2l49947
Hehe, this for is pre-April-fools right?
You really offer no compelling argument.
I am not a coder, not a geek, just a user. Microsft does not stand behind their software, so dont think you would be better off with it.
An Windows is free too. You tell me one person that has purchased a retail copy of any MS product….. like MS office.
And Who the heck buys photoshop??
The Windows world breeds piracy.
At least with opensource, you LEGALLY get to have the software for no cost.
My friend, it is you that sucks.
Free crapy software is not better. Don’t you compare Gimp with Photoshop.
I actually Like Gimp much more thatn photoshop!
I cannot use photoshop…. it kind of sucks for me.
Just as if a photoshop guy tried gimp.
Really GIMP is BETTER than Photoshop for ME!
The gimp is a piece of crap, terrible interface, terrible controls. Photoshop is better in everyway possible, because you know it was made by people who weren’t a bunch of 60’s throwbacks.
I thought this was the “Unreasonable” stance? I don’t see anything unreasonable here….
Wow, that was the most ridiculous article I’ve read in a LONG time. It was kind of funny actually. The author was making such a fool of himself.
Poor Devin . . . Biggs is gonna beat you up next time he sees YOU on the playground!
Also, nicely done. I do so enjoy TUS for the wealth of learned comments left behind.
Ugg… I want my time back from reading this tripe. If it was done in the vain of satire, then I must honestly say it was executed quite poorly. If it was serious, well then all I can say is I really hope this isn’t your day job.
What an angry article. If you don’t like Linux, don’t use it. I prefer Linux to MS, yet I see no reason to bash (no pun intended) MS or MS users.
After
“established, warrantee-backed, proven and solid operating system like Windows XP, or Vista.”
I stopped riding.
well, get the horse back in the barn, manuel. she’s all sweated up!
Maybe American satire is dead.
“But you’re almost certainly going to be getting that cost covered by work, because you don’t really need Photoshop for day-to-day stuff. That’s what Paint is for.”
No, Paint is not for ANYTHING except the garbage can, numb head.
Oh, and this one:
“So configurable! All those options, right out there in the open. All you have to do is “sudo rub-tummy-pat-head ramalamadingdong -j -5 -343 +$^^ (gno)” and you’re set.”
To someone that’s new with Windows, “C:\Program Files” can be just as confusing as “sudo apt-get install mplayer”. You have to LEARN the operating system. How much time did you spend giving Linux a shot? “Well, I spent two seconds and haven’t learned about using it, so it sucks!”
And new MS Windows Server 2008 is based on MICROSOFT POWERSHELL.
Congratulations, dude!
One final comment:
“I personally would sleep better knowing an enormous corporation is standing behind each one of my boxes like a guardian angel, ready to help me out with well-trained staff in call centers throughout India.”
GUARDIAN ANGEL? Microsoft? Why don’t you ask your GUARDIAN ANGEL why don’t they write an operating system that uses memory efficiently and doesn’t crash every minute-and-a-half unless you have 5x the memory needed for Linux in order to make room for the bloat of Windows?
I just… I mean… OMG. Really.
I use windows, ubuntu linux and mac os x.
Ubuntu is by far my favorite and has come a long way to ensure it is user friendly compared with other distributions!
Onto Microsoft, there are only about two microsoft products on the market which do not have a suitable alternative (free or otherwise), as for internet explorer that breaks most of the web standards along with the fact Microsoft only just started development up on IE after a 6 year break!
Admittely there is some open source software out there which is a cheap imitation of proprietry software, however there are a lot of decent apps open source apps out there including eclipse which has the backing of some big companies such as IBM and Adobe!
Open source software isn’t created by some second rate programmer but includes some of the big computing companies in the world!
I know it’s flame-bait, but I’m just a sucker for a good troll, especially when it’s concerning a topic so near and dear to my heart and keyboard. That’s right, I’m a hardcore Linux User, born and bred. For almost a decade now, I’ve been using some form of Linux on a multitude of computer systems from cellphones, PDA’s, dekstops, servers, appliances, etc.
I’ll be the first to admit that the various distros of Linux all have their drawbacks and advantages. I will also proudly state that even the worst Linux distro is better than the best offering of any Commercial Desktop platform.
Nuff said.
You need to do one of two things…..
1. Come out from under that rock that your hiding under and get educated about the real world.
or
2. Go back under that rock and stay there.
first: …lego-style… – i’ll thank you to DRINK!
second: …my worst enemy. And as you can imagine I don’t like that guy very much…. – go ahead, tell ‘em it’s me, you practically said it anyway
third: …sudo rub-tummy-pat-head ramalamadingdong -j -5 -343 +$^^ (gno)… – roflmao, nice.
firstfunniest thing i’ve read all day…This article is absolutely ridiculous. Devin Coldewey is totally out of his minds. How much did you drink last night at the party Devin Coldewey? Go get life and learn something more about FOSS. You seem to be an absolute Jack Ass. Go to hell if you are not sure of facts before you write such stupid articles you Moron.
He says “warrantee-backed, proven and solid operating system like Windows XP, or Vista.” I am sure this Jack ass is drunk.
http://www.hdgreetings.com/ForYou.aspx?id=17wuhzqr5p2l49947 that link from above fixed
hehe, loved it
Oh for god sake, would you make the title of this blog bigger, because people do not seem to get the idea behind it. Either they can’t read, or they are really morons, same as yelling “I hate you” to Kevin Spacey because they think he is Lex Luthor.
Devin is Lex Luthor?! I KNEW it!
I hate you Devin! Penguin hater!
Lest we forget, Microsoft says open source is anti-competitive and potentially criminal. And they would know.
Now excuse me while I trim my mustache.
haha, that’s the best metaphor I’ve heard in ages!
I switched to Linux about two years ago. At first I took it on as just another pet project, but the more I learned about Linux, the more I learned about my computer and what it could do. Used to be that when Windows didn’t have a box to click or program to run, I’d simply forget about what I was trying to do. Now it may take me a month to get the results I was looking for, but in Linux at least I know I can get it.
And as far as having a monster corporation to help me whenever I get stuck, I have an entire community of the most willing enthusiasts to assist me at every juncture. Thanks you guys for all your help these last 2 years! I hope one day to return the favor =)
LoL, yeah NT 4.0 server was really reliable as well…pffft Obviously, you have not done your research. I am biased, although I know why I am..
I agree completely… wasn’t it Winstone Churchill that said…
“No one pretends that Linux is the perfect OS. Indeed it has been said that Linux is the worst operating system, except all those other operating systems that have been tried from time to time.”
Runty OS, eh? Chances are this page is hosted on a linux server.
I hadn’t seen crunchgear.com before, but thanks to Deven here I know not to waste my time checking the rest of the site out.
Enjoy your upgrade fees and bogged down pc’s man . . .
Horrible Journalism,
Its so painfully obvious that the writer couldn’t accomplish much in life,
This is my first visit to this site and I definitely would not recommend it to anyone looking for any sort of remotely interesting read.
Obviously imagined by marketers trying to find a way to add more clicks to their site and in turn increase revenue.
You see rather than come up with an educated and thorough review on something they prefer to hire hacks to wright on the most argumentative subjects they can find.
I assume they do this because its cheap and they can earn more money from advertising.
Its not that hard to write an article declaring how “Air” sucks and is definitely over rated.
It doesn’t make it right though and you can be sure that you will get reams of people who reply and in turn increase revenue to your sad excuse for a news site can be in some way profitable.
Its a pity an article like this even made it out onto the net, especially considering the majority of people are now being exposed to different distributions of linux(not linuxes) and are forming an educated view of the OS.
I found it highly ironic that cheap excuse news site, full of trash Journalism find themselves worthy to take an elitist view over not only the users but over the developers whom of which excel in their respective fields and innovate on a daily basis in an open and unselfish way.
I also found it highly amusing that you assume Microsoft employees are amazing coders and that the OSS community would steal from them in any way, why you ask?
(1) if you search watch channel9 a microsoft developer video blogging service you will probably come across a video on third party security companies and individuals being brought in because quote on quote “Allot of Microsoft employees don’t know what a buffer overflow is”.
(2) OSS build more secure, reliable and coherent software
(3) Its open source you f+cking idiot do you even know what that means?
the source code is open for anyone to view modify or distribute under the respective license so even Microsoft can view the source, they would hae said something by now.
The fact that you are being payed money to right this spewed un researched crap is an insult to anyone with with the ability to read. I would rethink my career prospects If i were you, you are neither groundbreaking nor interesting if this were a printed publication I would put it in the dog house where it would undoubtedly feel at home with the dried up dog piss.
Although it may seem like I have been caught in the honey trap make no mistake I am simply leaving my mark so that maybe just maybe the people who put up with your crap stop reading and you get fired.
Did you notice the title of the column? I think you’ll find a little surprise!
You fooled a lot of people with this article judging by the comments. Nice work. :)
The trick is to play it completely straight. I think this is how the Weekly World News got big.
Great reading!!! I find it odd that people took it seriously when imo it was quite obviously ironic.
Are you trying to say that chicks don’t dig mustaches? Rubbish.
I noticed the title, it doesn’t take away from the fact its a cheap way to get more readers. Even if you are taking the piss it will only create debate and most likely pull in people who have never used linux into the fray who will undoubtedly speak their mind and say linux sux simply to take an “uneducated” unpopular stance for the sake of its unpopularity.
The main problem I have with this is that even if this is the humor column its too transparent in its goals. An example would be, I don’t think I have ever read an article on Slashdot that made me think that its main reason for being on the site was to create debate and make money, obviously Slashdot also make money through various advertisements on the site but this column just feels manufactured by marketers. I hope you can understand .
The rampant ignorance you display in this ‘article’ makes me fear for the future of humankind.
Dear poster,
Are you really think linux is bad?
if you do.. fock off, get you’re ass away from you’re computer, trow it thrue the window,
and die,,
you lamooooooo

Waste of my fucking time, you’re an ill informed retard. The only reason Linux has no compatibility with games is because the greedy game companies want to go where the money is already established, that being, Windows. Right now, there really is no established way for some of these companies to make money from Linux, because they’re not creative enough to realize all of the possibilities. Also, the source code for the games is so closed out, that no one can easily port them to Linux. Sooo, its not any of the developers, users, system administrators, the whole group of Linux enthusiast faults for poor game compatibility.
Then with the developers………….. “probably built up lego-style from stolen Windows code”……….. Fucking Windows code is done in Assembly, from what I understand. Look at the majority of projects done for Linux. They’re usually C/++, Python, Perl, Lisp, Ruby, or some other obscure programming language I’m sure you’ve never heard of. But that’s aside my point, you can tell that a lot of code is done from scratch or perhaps borrowed from another open source project when you see the different organization schemes of developers, perhaps cleaner code (but all code has bugs now and then), different algorithms, etc. Perhaps look at some code and see for yourself. Also, it’s very bold of you to even talk about programming, do you even know a thing about software development? From the sound of it, it surely looks like you don’t.
Now the command line… You OBVIOUSLY have to learn it before you can do just any old trick. It may be hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, it can be much more sufficient then the most intuitive of graphical user interfaces. But even then, you’re not ever forced into using command line when you use Linux. You have a choice in exactly how you want your system to work for you. You even have the full power to make your own window managers, GUI’s, etc to fit your needs or perhaps toggle some more ideas from the community.
I could go on, but why bother clearing up your ignorance for you? Go around and do yourself a bit more research before you start making such blatant assumptions and petty remarks. Good day to you, sir.
The whole column is a put-on, t0dk0n! Y’know – like a joke? Lighten up.
And a good day to you! :)
Steve? Steve Jobs? It IS you isn’t Stevie!
Actually, I disagree with you. I installed Ubuntu and it’s easy to use. All my hardware was recognized and it even installed additional codecs which aren’t installed by default on Windows. It’s free and my computer has never booted and shutdown faster. As for printing, no problems here. Even synching my cell phone works great… No games? No problem: I’ve got an Xbox!!!!
All I have to say is this: http://sloshy.livejournal.com/1598.html.
You’re dead on. I could go on for pages from a scientific and, perhaps even more relevantly, economic standpoint, but here’s what I notice recurringly from a simple argumentative standpoint:
1. Linux users are zealots.
2. Linux users are close-minded
3. Most Linux users have less than 3 years experience in the industry. “In the industry” means that you’ve at one point been actually paid to produce marketable software which of course requires an operating system. “In the industry” does not mean you have an iPod, found a codec, managed to boot Linux, have a blog with cute Ubuntu logos, etc.
4. Linux users are rude. They resort to profanity and insults. They are cretans
5. Linux users are countercultural
6. Linux users are anti-establishment (perhaps redundant of #5)
7. Linux users are inefficient. They’d rather claim success to using a 10 year old boat anchor to run their latest favorite distro that took a week to find, attempt compilation, learn, tweak, fix, compile, repeat than simply get up and running within minutes on something that will last for at least the next three years and cost less than $500
8. Linux users are luddites. “Command line!” – ’nuff said
9. Linux users are naive as a function of what they claim. Ask simple questions like “what’s AIX?” or “ever hear of a P595?” or “what processors does an HP Superdome running HP-UX use?” and you’ll get blank stares at best, but more likely insults.
10. Linux users are myopic. If what is claimed to be nirvana for the desktop is in fact the “way to go”, then why not practice what one preaches and apply it everything? Find an open source, unsupported toaster, or a coffee table, or a vehicle.
………..
What the fuck? I’m resulting to profanity because this truly requires that in the question. Also, what’s so bad about profanity? Shove it up your republican arse, you hypocritical cunt sack.
First of all, I’m not a zealot, I’ll use any open source operating system. I’ll use a BSD, Linux, or anything else Unix cloned/derived/inspired. But at the moment, I just use Linux, a debian derived distro, by the name of Ubuntu. Why do I use it? Because it has a pretty decent repository with mostly up to date software. After using Slackware for about 5 years and Gentoo for about 2 years.. Apt-Get combines both the pros of Slack and Gentoo in one fast, easy to use command when I just want to get dependencies such as libraries and codecs, rather then compiling them. I don’t use the default Gnome desktop envorinment, hell, I don’t even use a “desktop environment”… I use the Openbox Window Manager… So I’ll restate that, I’m a zealot for FREE, FUNCTIONAL, OPEN software… not some proprietary, slow, outdated, closed, buggy as fuck software that I can’t just go in and fix myself, I have to wait for some bullshit “security package” that breaks more shit then it fixes.
A huge reason you are hypocritical is that you are calling us rude, Cretans, inefficient… basically, you’re labeling us all in this tight little niche. So go sodomize yourself with the broken end of a rusty aluminum broom stick. Sure, some “linux users” are Anti Establishment, and I perhaps fit in there, but look at how corrupt most of these douche bag companies are. I don’t like capitalism, it makes me sick, it makes me immensely depressed on a daily basis. But this is just me, not all Linux users are like this. And anyone with an “anti establishment” persona has different reasons for why they are. So seriously, fuck off with putting us in this little fantasy niche of yours.
Go do yourself some research and clear up your stupidity, but perhaps that wont even do you good, for stupidity can never be cured. Only Ignorance can, and this is far from it.
apt-get sucks.
You STILL just can download an program and run/install it. I’ve got another Ubuntu machine, do I have to redownload the same program? Can I copy the downloaded file to that machine and install?
My friend is running Fedora. Can I e-mail him the program I downloaded? They’re both Linux, right? Nope, wont work. Whats worse, he Fedora might only be a mere 2 years old and can’t run new software.
Linux users insult Windows users for having an OS automatically do everything, yet this is precisely what apt-get does, automatically make any changes to libraries, and other software, to get an app to work. Even if it breaks other apps. Of course, Linux users assume that you have broadband, or SHOULD have it. Or that you have internet access at all.
Can you just buy a PC magazine and install the program provided on the CD? Nope. Windows you can. Mac you can. Linux nope. You just gotta hope some other geek has done the work in making a package for your distro and its in a repository that you’ve configured and that its up to date. If you’re distro doesn’t have repositories, or smaller ones, there is a good chance youre screwed.
I can still run DOS programs on XP, and I can download a GUI to 7zip and have it run in Win98. I run a later Linux distro (RH 7.3), but there is no GUI for p7zip which will work, simply because some developer likes to play with widgets and for some reason, despite the fact that this program is nothing more than a filebrowser, some buttons and option boxes and a front end to a CLI program I already have, it can’t work for some asinine reason.
Windows doesn’t do this, which is why its better for software developers and users. MY users wont miss out on running a simple “Hello, world” program because someone thought that their “OK” button should be themable using a scripting language or whatever it is they’ve done and that those with GUI’s that aren’t themable should lose this ability.
Linux only allows you to do more than windows because of the CLI an THATS IT. In every other way its backwards. It doesn’t allow you to just be able to write a program that others can use universally. It doesn’t allow you to run newer programs if you’re OS is “outdated” without upgrading. Much of the software out there won’t run because it wont compile, or the obscure libraries it depends on aren’t availabe, or wont compile, or the version of GCC or autoconf or automake is not the right one.
I went to Linux because I believed that it a) really let you use your computer and b) helped you learn about it (not that I didn’t know anything, having coded in assembly in DOS, built my own PC’s etc) but in reality it
a) Has a good command line and nifty system administration features, but many things which SHOULD work, just dont
and
b) doesn’t really teach you about your computer, but only bout the innards of software packages and how to go about fixing broken things which should be working. Trying to get source code to compile, or a broken source RPM to recompile teaches me NOTHING useful.
@Anonymous: amazing how you’ve implicitly agreed with many of my points. Emotion and not reason is driving your pro-Linux attitude, something you simply did not defend using a shred of rationality, but rather, again, only insults and ad hominem arguments.
At least you admitted you don’t capitalism which is fine…just keep swimming upstream while the rest of society evolves in reality.
11. Linux users (really, the FSF types) despise the free market
12. Linux users’ ultimate argument is only they “get it” and the rest of the world “is ignorant and must do more research”.
This article is so true on so many level. Linux sucks! It’s worse then Mac (No offense Mac users, it’s just not my cup of Tea).
Linux Sucks.
First of all forgive my english, but it’s not my mother language
Now my 2 cents on the matter:
Linux, in my opinion, as of may 2008 is not yet a OS worth looking at for the desktop.
Let’s face it: linux is for geeks, the average layman does not want to spend hours scouring forums for solutions and writing tens of lines of apt-get, sudo, chmod, dpkg, modprobe etc, hoping this will solve the problem
The average layman wants a system that works out of the box not an OS where
I am not a computer illiterate, i’ve been using computers since i bought a sinclair spectrum in 1983, then i bought a C128 , two amigas, an apple and since 1995 have been using PCs everyday, i switch back and forth from linux at work to windows at home, yet today i wanted to try Kubuntu 8.04 64bit on my older pc (AMD64 4200 – 2GB ram – ATI X800 Gto card) and had the following issuses
ATI video card is not working properly, i can’t get direct rendering to work even after i followed all the instructions i found in the community forums
Flash player is not available for linux
Java Runtime is not available on 64bit
Emulating games under wine is frustrating
Adept manager crashed a few times
There is no decent MP3 mixing software for linux (I also work as a DJ in a club)
There is no playchess.com client for linux (i have a paid account there)
Poker room clients are not available and running them through wine is not an option Most of them dont work, the few that work require an IE4Linux install+plugins, they incur into graphic problems, disconnections and they sometime crash)
P2P under linux isnt just the same – Joost for example is not available and Emule clone’s Amule is somewhat different
My bluetooth printer is not recognized
My PocketPC can’t be synchronized
and i could go on with a lot of other issues, bugs, etc etc.
Besides, i dont care if iLinux is free, i got my Vista Ultimate as a birthday present (not that i couldnt afford it anyway), i am completely satisfied, it worked immediately on my system and haven’t had a problem since. I have 24/7 support in case i need it, and malware and viruses are a problem just if you’re an idiot, i haven’t catched a virus under windows in the past 18 months and the only trojan i got before (got it form a fake emule mp3) didnt harm my system.
Linux is a great OS for servers but at the desktop level is just for geeks and nerd wannabes and will never become a worthy alternative to Vista.
The simple fact that it’s been around and available for free for the past 10+ years and yet the installed base is less than 1% should ring a bell to all you linux enthusiasts.
99% can’t all be wrong or stupid
Corrected:
The average layman wants a system that works out of the box not an OS where you have issues every 5 minutes
* At work we have OpenSuse anw use openoffice on it 99% of the time *
I’ve used OpenSUSE and I couldn’t copy and paste items from one drive to another, the option simply does not show up. If that’s not bad enough, looking for the answer online took hours, and still THERE WAS NO FIX. That was just one issue out of many. Long story short, I switched back to Windows yesterday and will never look back. Fuck you Linux
0_o… you’re fucking stupid… You were probably looking in the wrong place. Searching for the jargon. All you have to do is mount the second drive and you can do all the copying, moving, and super linking that you’d like… Linux isn’t automated, it doesn’t do everything for you like stupid friendly windows does. Look up a tutorial on command line, or perhaps how to make things automated for your simple mind. Good day.
Unfunny people shouldn’t try to write funny articles.
If someone in your circle friends convinced you that you’re funny, you should make him/her your Worst Enemy. You’ve been duped.
I agree 100% with everthing in this article. Would you buy a car that was cobbled together from parts made by unknown sources? If so, when it broke down, who would you depend on to fix it? Can you imagine all the finger pointing?
Open source software is fine as long as it works. When it breaks, nobody wants to take ownership and fix it in a timely manner.
Finally, someone had the nerve to say it out loud. Linux is not an OS, it’s developer porn. Only meant for people who have nothing better to do than de-bug something that is supposed to actually work when installed. Sure, convert your business over to Linux but first plan for the huge losses in productivity due to down time and don’t forget to HIRE several Linux “techs” to try and make it function.
I wish it did work but it doesn’t. Not only doesn’t it work but it will royally screw up your legacy system should you make the grand mistake of believing the BS hype and trying to install it. (Talking to real people here, not those of you with no lives who are happy to spend several hundred hours fixing it)
This crapware is free for a reason.
Linux is amateur hour – period.
