Hackers cause epileptic seizures to epileptics reading epileptic website

I’m all for griefing, I really am. Messing with institutions needs to be done, even if they’re virtual, even if they’re fun MMORPGs. No, especially if it’s with gamers. But leave the disabled alone, please.

Hackers used JavaScript to cause panicky, flashing, multi-colored images to flash on a message board that cause people with epilepsy to have seizures.

The worst part was, it was a epilepsy support message board. Theses guys are jerks.

  • You can’t have it both ways, Matt.

The differences between right and wrong are pretty subjective.

  • Gotta disagree with you, Alex. This was neither griefing nor hacking. This was harassment. Griefing is usually harmless in the grand scheme of things; hacking can cause problems but is not a physical attack on someone. Griefing on a game is a gray area, but this was just wrong. These guys are pathetic losers and I can’t imagine expecting anyone to applaud this mischief. (And if nobody’s going to make you a hero, why perpetrate the act?)

  • I applaud them. Excellent execution of exploits and ideas. Actually getting something like that to work is quite amazing.

    • Approximately 100,000 people die every year from uncontrolled epileptic seizures (like John Travolta’s son). Any other sick actions you applaud? Would you like it if someone spiked a diabetics’ food with natural sugar?

  • They will soon die
