Circuit City
TG Daily is reporting that Circuit City has begun spring-cleaning on HD DVDs by offering them with discounts up to 50 percent. Can anyone confirm this?

  • I told you all that HD-DVDs we’re a good deal! See now they’re 50% off I don’t care if they’re dying of the uncurable cancer known as blu-ray!

Yeah if they’re having a fire sale I’m going to take full advantage of this. I bought a couple stand alone AD-A3 players and a add-on for my Xbox 360.

  • Just remember that even at 50% off you’re still spending money on something that you’re going to replace later on when you get a BluRay player (by which time the BR movies will probably be cheaper anyway) so it ends up being 50% more not 50% less.

  • Yeah, what a steal. They are STILL selling people HD movies on a disk that will soon be completely obsolete, and anyone buying them is totally screwed… Wadda Deal!!!

  • they are the same quality as blueray if not better, it not like next week my hd player will shut down forever since hd dvd went belly up…..it still players hd and regular dvds…..my copy of beowulf looks amazing…sorry blu ray…..

  • …plus my xbox 360 has almost all movies avilable in HD via the marketplace…

  • ….didn’t Sony back Betamax?????

  • They are not 50% off on the website. Some are still $34.99 and up – I was hoping this would be a chance to stock up since Blu Ray is still so damn expensive and HD DVD looks and sounds great belly up format or not. I refuse to spend more than $10 per disk on HD DVD now – where are all the fire sales I heard everyone predicting a few weeks ago?

  • There is a scan of the CC ad in the TG Daily article.
