Look, I’m all for decking out your home theater to make it the best it can be. You spend thousands of dollars on equipment just to entertain yourself, why not jazz it up?
But this trend of theming your home theater room is getting silly. The Star Trek apartment, I thought, was a one-off. But now there are lots of people getting into the act, like the Konolds, who’ve set up their theater as an homage to Pirates of the Caribbean, more the ride than the movie. But still.
If I had the money to do this, I’d rather upgrade to a better receiver or speaker set. Do you know what the theme of my home theater set up is? I call it “Bachelor’s Apartment”. It’s rad.
I generally tend to agree, although I thought the Batman Begins setup was pretty cool.
There’s a whole gallery of theaters here; some are pretty lavish, others are in the… er, “Bachelor’s Apartment” style.
I love that people used to show off their gardens or their trucks, and now they show off their insane home theaters. :)
