backlessbra thumbIt’s not every day that a tech blogger gets to write about women’s underwear, at least not on the tech blog, but here I am, and it’s no longer April Fool’s.

What advancement in Bra-tech has such significance to warrant a post on this blog, you ask? Why the backless bra, of course!

Looking like a pair of slings joined in the middle, the backless bra is just that. It’s made for classy ladies who want to keep their support but still want to wear backless halter tops and dresses. Sounds reasonable, but it’s the talk of the town in Underwearville, USA.

The bra was originally aired on American Inventor, and now Maidenform is selling a version for $25. See you in the club, backless bra. Or, rather, not! Aha!

  • I think this is great.

  • Concerning the backless bra, I am reminded of the story of the invention of the bra. Three scientists were working in their lab when a woman walked by the window. The three men noticed the movement, as men do. One of the scientists said, ‘You know, I think I have come up with an idea which will keep women supported and stop that movement.’ The other two scientists took the man out in the alley and beat him to a pulp.

I much prefer the Italian bra that my wife wears which supports her perfectly and which has a back but almost no front. Much more pleasant!

  • The last line in this post actually made me laugh out loud at my desk. Well played, sir!

  • As the great George Costanza would say, two cups in the front and two loops in the back.

  • This bra looks great. It looks like a friendly invention, let’s hope it lives up to the hype.

  • The Maidenform Backless bra, is not what is cracked up to be, the bra would not stay in place, once i put it on. So i sent it back. Im still on the search for a real backless bra..Nice try Maidenform, go back to the drawing board

  • I agree with Braless. I tried it and it kept sliding off as soon as you move your arms. I’ve gone back to my old Faveo bra (see http://www.faveo.co.uk) for the support and lift, AND SECURITY, that Maidenform failed to provide. It does feel like Maidenform used this to get everybody talking about the brand again (and look what we are all doing), but this one is a no-no.
