This just isn’t fair. CrunchGear reader windexh8er writes in to gloat:
I live in Minneapolis, and my Intarwebs will be getting much faster!
Well good for you, braggart. Our own Devin just got hooked up here in Seattle with a 30Mbps pipe, yet I, living just less than a half mile or less from Devin get a measly 15Mbps for the same price.
Comcast, can a guy get some love here?
Congrats, windexh8er, I’m jealous. There, I said it. Can I come over to download some porn?
And the rest of you, how fast is your Comcast where you are?

Please stop with the compaining…. I have Time-Warner (RoadRunner). I pay over $40/month for 5-6Mbps. If I pay them another $10/mo (only an additional $20/mo if I tell them I have a network in my house), they’ll boost it to (are you sitting down?) 8Mbps.
Oh, and I believe it was a bigshot at TW that said that they may change their pricing structure so that it is based on total monthly download, not speed. Crap.
You know, you’re right. After writing this, I realized, “Crap, I’m paying $40 for a 15Mbps pipe, that’s FAST!”
But, ya know, grass is always greener, and stuff. :-P
I just tested at 20Mbps about a half hour north of Seattle. I’m happy enough – I thought my service was more like ten here.
I sometimes wonder if I’m being throttled though. Often web browsing is slow and crappy here. I’m a very infrequent bittorrent user, but my wife streams a lot of TV shows. Everything streams without problems at least.
