Sony to launch HDTV with BD recording

At a press conference in Taipei last week Sony president and Electronics CEO Ryoji Chubachi announced that Sony would integrate BD recording drives into LCD HDTVs.

DVD and BD currently account for about 80% and 20%, respectively, of global demand for movie discs, Chubachi indicated. The new BD devices to be offered by Sony include models integrating an HD LCD TV with BD recording functionality, Chubachi pointed out.

That’s not a bad idea considering 50GB worth of DVR content for on-the-go usage is highly appealing. I wish I could download all the shows I DVR onto a disc to watch on the plane. What about you?
