Comments on: VooZoo: Paramount’s attempt to sell $1 movie clips. Oh, and alluding to terrorism is a perfectly acceptable way to sell clips, I guess.

I'm not sure if this article is trying to be funny, spiteful, or if you are actually trying to help people out, Nick. The fact that I can't tell is definately not good for you or your cause.

I had never heard of voozoo, but I certainly checked it out after reading your article. I have to say that we are going to have to agree to disagree on your assessment this time. I'm not a super tech gal, and I'm perhaps slightly older than the desired demographic, but it seems to at least be an interesting application.

Yes, I begrudgingly admit that I am on facebook to stay in touch with my children who are now scattered across the US (though they are not terrorists - something that I feel even a blogger shouldn't joke about lightly). What I have learned on my short time attempting to play with the cool kids online, is that Facebook is filled with a lot of rather bland applications/games, and Voozoo actually seems to be one of better ways for one to procrastinate.

As a working/published writer myself who teaches creative writing at Penn State, I'm willing and able to give you a little free writing advice to help you with your future works.

1. write about what you know. It really is a golden rule. From what I can tell, you don't have to pay to use the application. One of the comments above seems to verify this statement.

2. Personally bashing people/companies only makes you look like you worked there, and then you were fired because of incompetence. I know this is a blog (I come here every once and a while to check out what you have to say) but you really need to figure out the angle/voice of your piece before even starting the writing process. Do you have a personal vendetta with the CEO of the company, or are you trying to review a new application?

3. Once can be funny without putting a negative spin on their subjects. You're faulting them for attempting to be shocking and larger than life, but then you are doing the very same with your piece. I'll spare you Webster's definition of hypocritical, but perhaps you should take the time to look it up.

4. Lastly, as Dr. Seuss would tell you - piece of shit doesn't rhyme with Voozoo or Hulu. You would have been better served with poopoo, or perhaps excluding that line all together due to the aforementioned reasons. Not to mention that it's my personal opinion that the entire joke lacks humor.

On that note, I hope you take all of this as nothing more than my creative criticsm, and the humble opion of this reader.

As I tell all my students -- I can only help guide you, but you are your own writer. I look forward to reading your future articles, Nick.

Hello - We created VooZoo!!!

Thanks much for your advertisement.

And indeed, people don't have to buy clips at all - we created a "virtual value" for the clips, but you get plenty of free points just by using the application. So if you're intention was to mock a book by the cover - nice job - but if you actually read a couple of pages inside, you would have figured out how to get the points for free. Soon, there will be some really creative reasons why you will want to buy these points - so stay tuned.

In regards to "secret cells" and your prosaic terrorization of our creative approach, please let me apologize for not sounding corporate and "official."
In fact, recruiters call her often trying to sniff out our developers, so we do like to keep a low-pro in certain respects.

Enjoy sending voohoos!

Seriously dude, what are you? 10 years old? Terrorism? WTF? You make no intelligent points throughout this entire blog. All you do is rip the application, the company who produced the application, and Paramount. All I see when I read this is a "hater" trying to be clever. You need to relax dude. Don't take your frustrations with the realization that you will have to join the real world soon out on "the oldest movie studio here". (And by "here" do you mean Earth?)

Go get laid, enjoy your junior year NYU, and finish the screenplay about a teenage alien love triangle that you've been working on. Maybe someday, people will buy clips of something you've done...although but probably not. Is it too late to switch your major?

And, oh yeah, the VooZoo clips are actually free on Facebook anyway.

Have you ever done anything creative other than knocking down other peoples creative ideas? You sound like a guy who couldn't make it in business so you just trash everyone who has.
Nick, you read the info wrong.

I have VooZoo. VooZoo is free. Sending clips is free. Posting clips on your Facebook page is free. You get points just by sending clips.

IF you want to add points, which you don't need to do, you can pay $1 for 100 points. Most clips are 25 or 30 points, so by any metric you use, no single clip costs $1.

Got it?
