Maximum PC took a look at Dell’s new 22-inch “Crystal” display and found it to be a bit lacking. It carries a $1,200 price tag, which is apparently “more marketing hype than functionality” and there’s some pretty serious glare, like the reviewers being able to see their reflections during any dark movie scenes, which was pretty distracting. Finally, the brightness had to be cranked all the way up and still “was unable to produce acceptable differences on its dark grayscales.”

They liked the coloration and the display’s accurate dynamic contrast, and the overall aesthetic of the monitor itself was easy on the eyes. But in the end, when Dell’s regular 22-inch display costs $350, they recommended buying one of those and slapping a piece of Plexiglas over it. Ye-ouch.
