Uhhhh....

You call yourself a die hard GI Joe fan, but, half of those "original" GI Joe's ... well... *aren't*. They all came into being well into the toy/comic run. The RAH toys started in 1982, as did the comic book. The first five episode mini-series cartoon was 1983, with the good old mass device. Of the characters you listed, only Gung-Ho was in it. Bazooka wasn't, probably because he was an extremely boring figure.

Hell, you can't call Sgt. Slaughter an original GI Joe character either considering he's a real world person implanted into the cartoon.

Die hard my sweet patootie.

This is a real joke. I'm a die hard GI Joe Fan, I've seen many incarnations of GI joe cartoons from the original GI Joe to GI Joe Extreme and I must say that this is an true insult to the GI Joe name. First of all where are all of the original Joes like Quick Kick, Grid Iron, Sky Dive, Lt Stone, Low Ligh, Black Dragon, Lady Jaye, Road Block, Dusty, Jinx, Gung Ho,
Lt. Falcon, Sgt Savage, Ambush, Alpine, Bazooka and the all time favorite Sgt Slaughter and so many more Joes that are absent from this film. And what's up with these shitty looking costumes. GI Joes were American Military Special Forces therefore they're supposed to have military outfits on but what the hell is this ? They've completely ruined the image of the characters. Duke looks too young (Duke is supposed to be in his late 30's early 40's), General Hawk is actually much younger and looks more fierce, Scarlett looks like crap and Cover Gil looks like a cheap porn star. Storm Shadow looks like a gay pimp. I will shoot myself before going to see this film. This is not worthy of the GI Joe name.

I agree with just about everything that everyone else has said. If the Joe licensees had had any balls to begin with, they would have flipped the bird to the studio the second there was any mention of "changing the story to fit the current global political atmosphere." Swivel on it, studio execs. Swivel until you squeal like pigs on a honeymoon!

It would not have been hard to make everyone look realistic and still fit the images that we grew up with.

What is everyone getting bent out of shape for? None of us have even seen the trailer yet; all we've seen are photos. I've been a fan of G.I.Joe since 1982, and I'll wait until I see a trailer and the film before passing judgement. EVERYONE RELAX!

I was with you right up until 'Both Scarlet and Baroness are supposed to be Sexy,'

I can't be the only person who at least finds the revamp of Scarlett and Baroness sexy. I might not like the change in design, but, they are at least sexy.

You know when I designed these G.I.Joes back in 1982 I was thinking that they would remain the same for years. And when I saw these images of my Joe figures on this page I was a little disappointed. I don't even know why Hasbro Toys even let the studios do this to these Joes and take them out of context for what they are?

I recently went to a G.I.Joe convention in Dallas ,Texas and talked with many G.I.Joe collectors and most of them are disappointed in what the studios have done to one of the most beloved figures in the world. I mean Duke looks like a little kid compared to what he is supposed to be, Storm Shadow and that rediculous coat and his face showing, whats up with that? Both Scarlet and Baroness are supposed to be Sexy, thats the way I intended them to be, yet strong, fearsome and independant woman.

I think the studios got it all wrong on this one, they probably say that this is artistic license? Well I call it Bull. You can't change G.I.Joe and people will not except this image you have created.. Any way thats how I see it.

Yo Joe! OO-ra!!

I WILL NOT see this turd of a movie. The cast and design suck all the way. GI Joe had so much potential to be a bad-ass super-action flick. First Transformers, now this. Stop ruining my childhood already.

Up yours Hollywood.

Looks like they brought back "Space: Above and Beyond."
I don't want to complain, but I don't understand why they would have to do the "Batman/X-men" costumes. Give them real-world clothes and make sure the story is strong. I'll probably still see this when it comes out, but I don't know if I am as excited anymore.
The guys on the TV show Dallas SWAT look more bad-*ss

Well, thank goodness you "voices of reason" are wasting time on this stupid cartoon movie forum setting all us nerds straight instead of using your infinite wisdom to effect real change in the world. That would be truly scary.

Movie studios always say they have to make things more realistic or else modern audiences won't buy it. Explain Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and all the other unrealistic yet highly popular movies.

Movie studios say that fans are only a small minority and that changes must be made to appeal to the broader audience who doesn't know the property. In that case, why bother adapting the property? You're not going to get anything from name recognition if the target audience doesn't recognize it and the fans apparently aren't worth concern to begin with. You could call this movie Death Strike 2000 and no one would know.

It all boils down to corporate focus groups and Hollywood's ever increasing lack of imagination.

Also, it might be a toy/comic/cartoon movie but that doesn't mean there's not a good story to be mined from it. And there's no difference between these fans not liking certain changes and the complaints you no doubt make when your favorite pretentious novel gets adapted and no longer resembles the source. For Pete's sake, I've heard college professors complain about how inaccurate Hercules: the Legendary Journeys was because it was feeding children false information on the myth!

The black costumes do have to go but I do not know why you all is hating on Marlon Wayans for, someone has to be the comic relief in the movie... If anyone needs to be talked about its Channing Tatum because when did Duke look like a kid straight out of high school
