If TmoNews is to be trusted than it looks like NYC will be the first to tap into T-Mobile’s 3G network while Seattle is in the bottom quarter. That sucks when your company is based there. According to TMN there will be some significant announcement on this subject next week. Keep your fingers crossed.

  • Dudes, it is going to be VOICE ONLY!!! Yes, I am serious. I have it straight from T-Mo. It will launch its 1700MHz AWS spectrum in NYC for VOICE SERVICES ONLY. NO DATA!!!

Why? It needs the extra capacity for voie traffic in the greater NYC area. Same goes for all the first markets. T-Mo told me it hopes to have data services available by the end of the year. Until then, any phones with 1700MHz radios will only be using them for VOICE.

    Again, NO 3G DATA!!!
