Lee “Capone” Kun-Hee stepped down as Chairman of the Samsung Group, the umbrella company that controls all of Samsung’s holdings including its baby tear farms in Wonju. Kun-Hee was indicted for tax evasion and, in a bold move by the South Korean government, not really arrested because he kind of controls most of Korea’s economy.
They also decided to indict Lee without arrest, saying his apprehension was too big a risk for South Korea, citing “the extremely competitive global economic situation.”
In total, eleven execs were indicted including Lee’s son. Lee’s father founded the company 70 years ago.
