Microsoft partnering with Peter Jackson for new Halo game; Bungie’s not welcome to help

There’s another game coming in the Halo series, but it isn’t coming from Bungie, it’s coming from Microsoft and Peter Jackson. Yes, that Peter Jackson.
We’ve known for awhile now that Jackson was involved in a Halo project, most likely a game, as the movie is dead in the water right now. What’s notable is that the job postings are on Microsoft’s game studio site, not Bungie’s.
Early word is the game is going to be called Halo: Chronicles, because they’ve got a very creative, original marketing team. It’s supposedly episodic, though we’re not sure how they’re going to pull that off. It’s possible that the game will come as downloadable content on a monthly or perhaps weekly basis. Or perhaps not.
The question is: Do players want a non-Bungie Halo game? I’m a little frightened, as they’re hiring on new talent instead of using the team that’s nursed it sing it was a pup.

It’s nice to see that this whole, cutting Bungie loose, thing is working out.
I can’t wait to see Microsoft’s recipe to kill a beloved game franchise. I wonder if it’s anything like their, killer, “how to destroy an operating system”, recipe.
