RIM’s new touchscreen phone (technically the 9000), now called the Storm, is lined up to kill the iPhone the same way you can kill Dracula in Castlevania — you know he’s just going to come back in the next game.
RIM registered BlackberryStorm.com in 2007 and then grabbed the rest of the domains in 2008. RIM has been taking all sorts of interviews lately, stopping short of actually announcing the new phone, but Crackberry is so sure it will be the Storm that they’re running a naming contest. Head over to check it out.

Why must you taunt me like this, Biggs?
To this day, I still can’t beat Dracula in the original Castlevania, and it’s not from a lack of trying. That game has been haunting me for the better part of the last twenty years.
Orange Julius will reign down on RIM with hell and frozen drink deliciousness and take back the “Blackberry Storm” for pride and calorie counters world wide…
Nope, that didn’t make any sense. Funny RIM named it after a drink though. How many calories are in your Blackberry Storm? :)

Little Confusion here…
There’s 3 devices at play here:
9000 - Not Touchscreen, and that’s what contest is for (as think it will get a name like the Curve or Pearl).
9100 - That’s likely the newly named KickStart as broke by BG
TOUCHSCREEN phone - not sure on 9xxx, but that’s the one we’re saying is called the STORM (also running a contest - if were wrong, you get my old Curve).

Its not the “Storm” the code name is Thunder.
Jordan is correct, and it’s the 9500, not the 9000 (that would be the BB Bold)
this is so gayy! can these people TRY to get anymore like apple?!?! get real people!! ever since the iPhone everyone has been trying to take the idea! if they want to be like apple so much why don’t they just work for them or call their company “we’re a replica of apple”
shut the fuck up courts i work for apple and i have the storm and the iphone and the storm is dope as hell!
For all you At&t Iphone heads, you will appreciate a phone that can at least send sms pics. Or that a phone that is an actual 3g phone. We are not going to talk about the 3g iphone that only work 3g in 40% of the county. That is niether here nor there. This is going to be the next generation of touch. I probalby shouldn’t post this only because I’ve had the opportunity to play with it. Overall the device lives up to expecations. All you need to do is wait and see. All I have to say is 3g in reality is beautiful thing. Can’t wait until LTE! Yeah baby!
The worst thing aoub the i-phone is that you get stuck with crappy at&t as the provider. That is why i will never buy an I-phone!!!

Well, I’m about to get one! Waiting for Verizon to send it in the mail. From what I see, it seems to be a great phone. I’ve already got the pearl, which was great when I bought it, now it seems to be breaking down after a year 1/2 and I’ve spent another $300 for this storm…just hope it lives a lot longer…or till death do us part…You guys play nice in the sandbox okay. I was enlightened until I saw the fighten!!!
I tried the G1 for a couple weeks and LOVED it but not supporting Outlook/corporate email I opted for the Storm. Huge mistake, this phone is SLOW, the UI is clumsy at best and I’m so disappointed. I love what the phone ‘does’ but how it does it is completely unacceptable at all levels. The camera is slow to the point of being useless, the gyroscope is so slow that by the time it rotates you run the risk of hitting the wrong button because by the time it registers the location of the buttons has changed. If answering the phone in portrait view the answer button is bottom left, but if you rotate the phone to landscape the ignore button replaced the answer button in that location. That is terrible planning and just one instance of why I think this phone was rushed to market and is nowhere near ready for prime time. The iPhone is laughing hysterically.
