Like many of you, my first FPS gaming experience was Doom. It was on an old 486 with the “turbo” button engaged. It was maybe five frames a second and looked like shit, but back then it was revolutionary.
Id’s bringing Doom back for a fourth time, officially announcing development is starting on Doom 4. No word on what the game’s like, but we’re guessing you navigate corridors and shoot monsters.

hope i can see what the heck is going on his time around.
Hey, I remember that 486, cuz it was mine! 66MHz, $1800, seemed like a good deal at the time. It may not have played Doom well, but Scorched Earth and X-Wing ran like a champ.
Still haven’t played any of the Doom sequels, unless you count Half Life which used some variant of the Doom engine.
Now what ever happened to the turbo button? It’s like turning your PC up to 11.
