Apple’s become an iconic maker of hardware, that much is known, but its always had a hard time reaching out to gamers. A new patent by Apple points to something we’ve been saying for awhile: the iPhone and iPod Touch are going to become a fantastic gaming platform.

If you’ve used a jailbroken Touch or iPhone, you’ve probably seen some of the hacked-together games already available. Many are fantastic, and the games that will come around in June with the official Apps store should be even better.

But what about the Apple TV? We’ve heard rumors that Apple wants to turn it into a gaming platform, and indeed it could, it’s a fairly decent computer running OSX. If the studios write the games, its likely Apple will find a place to put them.
