Despite rumor upon rumor of a slimmed down Xbox 360 appearing some time next year, Microsoft has now come out and said the following, according to Ubergizmo…
“While we don’t normally comment on rumours like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009.”
The rumors surfaced out of Taiwan that Microsoft will be releasing a console called the Xbox 540 (360 plus one-half turn of 180 degrees) in fall of next year. That seems like a pretty stupid name, so these rumors might actually be false after all. Why not just call it the Xbox 720 or the New Xbox or Crystal Xbox or the XXbox 360X+5?
gotta think of the demographic. a 540 is the next level of difficulty after a 360 for snow, skate, wake-boarding, etc. pretty clever, especially given it is conservative ms.
I dunno, considering that demographic is the same one who hated the last Tony Hawk Pro Skater for the system so much that there won’t BE a new Tony Hawk for 2008, I’d say naming the system based on a skating move is a poor idea.
i think a new slimer xbox would be an im provement in the gaming comunity just look as how the ps2 took off after its big slim down
