		<description>Actually Whiskey, you were wrong.  Firmware is imbedded software, while these viruses overwrite the imbedded software they actually harm the physical hardware.  So not in his face.

Also doesn't most firmware have unwritable blocks so you can always restore it if corrupted?  Ciscos do,  Extreme does, I think most server hardware does.  (I guess this responds to my earlier worry).</description>

My answer Yes, because firmware is hardware, it's reachable and can be potentially modified.

Their answer, no, because viruses do not affect hardware.... 
Pfff, YEAH RIGHT!  Take that "teacher knows best"!  Took 5 years but now i get to rub it in his face!!!</description>
