When you think about it, the idea of comic books on cellphone screens is something of a no-brainer. The individual panels of a comic are just the right size for a mobile’s small screen. Using the standard nav keys could scroll you through an adventure effortlessly. Marvel sees this, and is apparently working to bring X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man and others to the small, small screen.

Without discussing any details, Marvel bigwigs at an analysts conference suggested that very soon Marvel would be doing just that. We’re not sure yet how it will pan out, but a Java-based comics “player” would be a logical start, as would a Web-based solution. We’re hoping this ripples to DC and its Verigo badge, as I’d love to have all of Transmetropolitan in my pocket at all times.
