Travel Advisory: Optimus Prime is a security threat

The guy in the photo here, UK resident Brad Jayakody, tried to board an airplane wearing that Transformers T-shirt and was told by security at London’s Heathrow airport, “You cannot get on the plane because there is a gun on your T-shirt,” according to The Sun

Luckily, Brad was able to change into a different shirt in order to board the plane. A spokesperson for Heathrow said “If a T-shirt had a rude word or a bomb on it for example, a passenger may be asked to remove it. We are investigating what happened to see if it came under this category.”

When asked about the incident, Jayakody said “It’s a cartoon robot with a gun as an arm. What was I going to do, use the shirt to pretend I have a gun?” Good one! ROFL! Totally!

I dunno. Seems pretty stupid for a couple of reasons. First, Optimus Prime and his band of merry Autobots are the good guys. I could see some uneasiness had the guy been wearing a Decepticons shirt, but the Autobots are on our side. Second, why would anyone intending to hijack an airplane wear a shirt with a gun or a bomb on it? If anything, you’d wear a shirt that said “Mean People Suck” or “Peace!” or “Brahms, not Bombs,” with a little caricature of Johannes Brahms composing something.
